The Hallway is Your Runway

I had the chance to visit my friend in America this summer, and while I was there, I just had to do some shopping to see what the trends and latest fashion are over in the States. The trends there are similar to those in the UK, while the individual styles have their subtle differences. Anyway, since it’s back to school season and Fall is around the corner, I got a good picture of what this season’s best styles will be. I know some of you ladies, like me, attend schools with dress codes or uniforms. The good news is you can wear these clothes beyond the school doors! I know I will be. Some of you  have resumed school, or are about to, and you know the fall basics. So why not share the latest top 5 Back to School staples so you’ll turn heads when walking the halls!

1. Loafers

There are so many patterns to choose from, and they go with almost any outfit.

This shoe has gone from elderly to  trendy! Not only are they comfy and versatile, but they’re super cute and make a statement in any pattern as you strut down the halls. Dress them up or down, but these are definitely a hot pick this fall

2. Cardigans and Jumpers (Over sized and fitted)

Over sized jumpers like this can be bought from Brandy Melville, Forever 21, and H&M.

Yes, ladies, we can bundle up on chilly days and still look cool (see what I did there? No, ok…) Cardigans and jumpers are comfy, and can be styled in a casual chic fashion.

  • Tip: try a neutral, over sized jumper or cardigan with coloured or dark wash skinny jeans and boots- combats, booties, etc.
  • For a more tailored and fitted sweater, pair it with sleek skinny jeans, saddle boots, and add a statement necklace.

3. Varsity Jacket

Find these sporty jackets at Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, and American Eagle.

We’re going old school for the new school year. Add a laid back and athletic feel to any flirty girly look this Fall with a varsity jacket. Add it to a casual dress or a cute tee and shorts. You may be the one to wow the crowd at the next match.

4. Circle Skirts

The summer favourite is here to stay.

Don’t stash away those twirly girly skirts just yet! The beloved circle skirt is here to stay this Autumn, but is taking a different approach. Try twill circle skirts; the texture adds a bit more attitude. Keep your legs warm with tights and slip on some boots or flats! You’re guaranteed to look fab.

5. Caps

Caps, such as this beanie, will be a popular accessory this season. Enjoy the Mean Girls quote.

Caps are not just for bad hair days ladies! These are one of the hottest accessories for those cool breezy days. Make sure to choose them in jewel tones like deep purple, burgundy or orange. Some of the rising styles for the season include floppy knits, beanie caps, fedoras, and even snapbacks/ baseball caps. (PS- if you’re a Mean Girls fan, you’ll know the quote and we’re now besties.)

These are my top 5 hot fall trends that you can be sporting this fall at school! Like I said, some of us attend schools that have dress codes or uniforms, but you can wear these items outside of the classroom this season as well. There are many more fall trends, so stay tuned as I reveal more!  Show me you’re Back to School Fall look by posting your look on Instagram, and using the hash tag #TSCbacktoschool.

Stay Fab,

Gigi xx.
