Back to School Haul!

Hello, friends!

It’s that time of year again… that time that gives us a mixed stew of feelings. You guessed it, folks-

Back. To. School.

But hey, let’s not think of it as the end, but rather, the beginning of an exciting new season! With this exciting new season comes new school supplies, and I am excited to share with you my Back to School Haul!

IMG_0553

For those of you who don’t know, I attend a school that requires us to wear uniforms, so I doubt you want to see the slew of Uber-cute plaid skirts and button downs I bought. Instead, I’ll be showing you some cute supplies I bought to be 100% ready for the new year!

IMG_0554

First, I bought this bright pink backpack by JanSport from Academy. I have the same one in a light blue color, but I wanted another one for different days in the week because I have different classes every other day. I really love this color- it’s so fun and pink is my absolute favorite color- and JanSport backpacks are so durable and I can trust it to last throughout the entire year and hold all my books unfailingly (and I have a LOT).

IMG_0560

Next, I have these two 1.5″ binders: One for A day and one for B day. I bought these babies from Target, and as soon as I laid eyes on them, I had to have them. Not only are they designed beautifully, but they are also incredibly durable, which is a winning combination in my book! These solid binders will definitely hold all my folders and papers while I remain stylishly organized. (:

IMG_0566

Also from Target are these super cute notebooks by Five Star. I have always bought Five Star notebooks, but in solid colors. My dad actually pointed the patterned books out to me, and I decided to switch up my selection this year. There were so many fun pattern options and I selected these nine for my nine classes.

IMG_0567

These three notebooks are my favorite ones. Which notebooks do you like best? Tell me in the comments below!

IMG_0564

I stopped by Barnes and Noble and picked up a few books. These are required for my English class, but they’re all so good, so I thought I’d share them with you all too!

I bought “The Great Gatsby,” “The House on Mango Street,” “A Raisin in the Sun,” “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” and The Crucible.

IMG_0565

Tell me below if you’ve read any of these books, which of these you like best, or any great book suggestions you may have!

IMG_0561

This was probably one of my favorite Back To School purchases- a journal by Tricoastal Designs. They have some really cute journals in various designs that I recommend you take a look at! I take French and am a huge fashion lover ((obviously)), so when I saw this journal, I thought it to be a match destined by God. Honestly though, there’s even a quote I love by the lovely Audrey Hepburn on the front and back, “Some people dream of having a big swimming pool. With me, it’s closets.” ❤

IMG_0563

I am super excited about this purchase for school. It’s totally original and I honestly think I’ll stand out in the classroom with these supplies. I’m so psyched to share that I bought some awesome graph paper AND… wait for it… college-ruled notebook paper. The color really pops, but the simplicity is so chic! I’m really trying to contain my excitement, but I cannot wait to flaunt this at school.

IMG_0571

I bought some sticker labels to label my notebooks, binders, books, etc. I also bought reinforcement labels to strengthen my folders, flashcards for studying, and colored sticker flags for organization. Exciting stuff, I know.

IMG_0570

Finally, I bought some writing and coloring utensils! You can’t start school without them, but you can definitely finish the year with about two. (I know this happens to all of us, let’s be real…) I got some basic black and red pens– I hate blue pens, so I never buy them, ha! – Some number 2 pencils, a pencil sharpener, some highlighters, Crayola markers (because I am a kindergartener), and gold Sharpies. I have all the basic Sharpie colors, but not the metallic gold, so I just had to buy them! Plus, they show up better on darker surfaces, which is super helpful.

That is it for my Back to School Haul! I hope you enjoyed seeing what I bought for the new school year and that if you’re still prepping to resume school, then it gave you some ideas of what to get. I really like all the items I bought, I think they are so cute and portray my style really well- that’s something I love because I wear a uniform. I wish you all a great school year no matter what grade you are starting and keep those positive vibes flowing- you’ll be unstoppable!

P.S- I actually start school tomorrow, so that means you can start looking out for a new post from me every Saturday! I’ll do my very best to post then, and I may do some random posts so keep checking in! I love you all and let’s have a great new school year! ❤

Stay Fab,

Kay B xx

July Lovelies Haul!

Hey friends, July has come and gone, so normally I’d be sharing my Monthly Lovelies! Wow, where is the summer going? This month is going to be a little bit different… I remembered that I’ve wanted to do a Haul for a while, so here is my July Lovelies Haul, showing you my favorite recent purchases!

Black and Yellow

I wore this outfit to the Aero Now VIP Launch Party, and I’ve been loving these pieces so much.

100_1870

1. Yellow Peplum Top with Heart Cutout 100_1873 I love how bright this top is; it just screams, “Summer!” I don’t own a lot of yellow clothing and don’t normally gravitate towards it. However, when I saw this top on the racks in the store, the whole world faded around us and a heavenly light shone down on this blouse. Melodramatic? Maybe a little, but it was love at first sight! 100_1877 100_1875 The quarter sleeves and flattering peplum around the waist are really feminine, and the high neckline is chic while the heart cutout in the back is edgy. To top it all off, this top is so comfortable and versatile- I can wear this top with a pencil skirt or white shorts for the rest of the summer, and then jeans, trousers and boots in the fall!

2. Black Mini Skirt w/ Leather Zipper Detail 100_1881 100_1889 This is the zippered mini skirt that I wore with the peplum top. I bought this skirt not only to wear with my peplum top, but also because I don’t have anything like it. I have a black skater skirt, my go to skirt that marries well with everything, and I needed a black pencil skirt that would be a nicer alternative. I love this piece because the zipper adds some edge and the leather strip contributes dimension. Next on the list, a new Little Black Dress! (: photo (2)

Here’s what the pieces look like when worn together!

3. Floral Skater Skirt

100_1891 100_1894

My favorite skirt is a “skater skirt,” and my favorite print is floral, so if you combine the two, then you have a winning combination made in heaven. I’m so excited to add this to my skirt collection and I think my favorite part of this piece is the print. It’s floral, but it’s not too animated. It has a vintage feel and it’s classy as well as classic.

100_1893 100_1898

Another thing I like about this skirt is the waistband. It’s not very thick, which I like, and it appears to be more flattering that way. It defines my waist well and would look cute with a thin belt. Above all, it’s versatile! This can be translated through so many seasons and styled in so many ways. I can’t wait to get some good use out of this!

3. White Chain Statement Necklace

 100_1908 100_1911 100_1909

This statement necklace is a little different from what I typically go for, but that’s what makes it so appealing to me. I love trying out new things and finding new ways to style my outfits with the little things as well as the major things. Rather than a bib style, this white necklace makes a360-degreee statement with the white and gold geometric design. It’s ultra chic and very classy, so I look forward to styling it!

5. Tortoise Frame Sunglasses

100_1912 100_1913

I am absolutely in love with these sunglasses! I’ve been wanting a new pair of sunnies, and as you may know from my last Monthly Lovelies post, my go to pair has been my aviators. I wanted something different.. bold yet understated, classy yet fun, and totally different from what you see the everyday-typical-teenage-girl wear.

100_1916

I spotted these at Love Culture and grabbed the last pair before you could blink. These remind me a lot of Carrie Bradshaw and Anna Wintour somewhat, two of my favorite fashion icons. I really like the tortoise frame, a definite classic, and I’m excited to have a rounded-near-cateye frame in my collection of sunnies.

6. A Little Studded Collar

 100_1907 100_1900

I saved this one for last because this was by far the purchase I was most excited about! Ok, story time…

~~

Now, you all obviously know that the name of my blog is The Studded Collar. Here’s a little fun fact- it’s not because I like Studded Collars (even though I really do like them)! Long story short, I came up with the title by combing two clothing details I love- studs and collars. When I started writing, I realized that I didn’t own any collared shirts with studs on the collar. I’ve been searching for the perfect studded collar shirt every time I’m out at the shops, and I found this classic beauty the other day. Now, Kay B, writer and founder of The Studded Collar, has a studded collar shirt!

~~

I love the overall versatility of this shirt (seems to be a theme in my purchases…) and the color that compliments my skin nicely. The material is also nice, it feels like chiffon, so it appears very classy and feels very comfy.

There you have it! That’s my July Lovelies Haul, showing my favorite recent purchases for the month. In the comments below tell me what you’re go to piece has been this summer! It can be an accessory, clothing item, anything! Stay tuned for more from me, and in the meantime, darlings…

Stay Fab,

Kay B xx

June Lovelies

Happy July everyone! This summer is just speeding past, but I’m so excited for what July will hold.

It’s that time again- time for me to share my monthly lovelies with you all! In June, I kept it pretty simple with the favorites. I was so busy during the month, but I managed to pick out some items that I’ve been loving and want to share with you. (:

June Faves Cover

Coach Wristlet

June Faves1

So, I have been loving this Coach wristlet recently and I use practically every day, I kid you not. It was actually my first Coach item courtesy of my best friend as a birthday present (Thanks KT <3) . Because of its neutral black undertone I can wear this with practically any outfit. Little secret: I really like plaid prints, but I’m highly selective about how they’re styled, so I’m super happy with this accessory. (:

June Faves2

Cute little side note: My friend gave me this wallet with a “lucky penny” in it because she believes it’s good luck. I think she said her grandma did that for her, so she would do it for me too. I thought that was so cute, so I’ve kept the same penny in there and thought I’d show you! (:

Aviators

June Faves3 June Faves5

These Forever 21 shades have been my go-to glasses almost all summer and I just love how simple and cool they look (and make me feel (: ). When I’m buying anything, I look for versatility in the product, so I really like that these shades can go with almost any outfit I have.

Bracelets

June Faves6 June Faves7

Another one of my best friends got this bracelet as a birthday gift for me from Nordstrom, and I just tend to wear it daily. I love the color, the woven detailing, and the encrusted gold center; everything about it is simple and captivating. It’s definitely one of my favorite go-to jewelry pieces!

June Faves8This piece from Apricot Lane was a Christmas gift from my best friend (the one who gave me the Coach wristlet. She has my style down to a tee!) Just like the other bracelet, I wear this almost everyday and I just love the color scheme and intricate, beautiful beading. I have been seeing this bracelets more and more where I live and I’ve been loving the local trend.

Rare Gold Perfume

June Faves10 June Faves9

My mom bought me this sample of the perfume Rare Gold, and I absolutely love it, especially since it reminds me of rose gold for some reason. It may just be me, but if I had to relate rose gold to a smell, is would be soft, sweet, and vibrant which is exactly how I would describe the scent of this perfume! I know for sure that when I run out of this perfume I’ll be purchasing the full size.

Bath and Body Works Sweet Shop Set

June Faves11

I’m sensing an unintentional theme of gifts here, but this set was another birthday gift that I recently brought out to use (finally!) two weeks ago. This is the Sweet Shop bathroom set from Bath and Body Works, and let me just say that this is most amazing set I’ve ever used from them! Not only does it smell amazingly yummy, but the hand soaps (the second one isn’t pictured) and hand lotion are so moisturizing and the packaging is adorable!! It came with two hand soaps, a hand lotion and the hand sanitizer. It’s almost as if each time I use one of the products, I get a whiff of heaven. Is it weird that this has made me super excited to wash my hands now?

June Faves12

Hand Soap…

June Faves13

Hand lotion…

June Faves14

Hand Sanitizer!

Cherry Red Beijo Crossbody Purse

June Faves15Alright, I had to include this purse in my June favorites because I wore it for the last time in June. I’ve had this red Beijo crossbody purse forever, and it has finally run its course. It’s just the perfect size to fit everything I need! One of the coolest parts was that the long strap was detachable. Regardless of it being bright red, this was by daily purse and I wore it with almost everything (my biggest and ONLY willingly-made fashion faux-pas…). This purse and I have been through a whole lot together (yes, I am getting sentimental and mushy over this purse.) and each mark, scratch and bruise has a story. But, it’s time for me to let go and find a new cross “buddy” (get it? like crossbody?). R.I.P Cherry Red Beijo CrossBuddy.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish Line

June Faves16

I featured three of these polishes in my last post, Nailing Summer Manis & Nail Art Inspo, and I shared a bit about how much I love these polishes! I’ve had others from this line before, and each one I used provided a great result. The nail polishes in this line live up to their name and last for a good 1.5 to 2 weeks. I definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a new brand or any polish at all!June Faves17

Lacey Lilac, #270June Faves18

Breezy Blue, #481June Faves19

Coral Reef, #405June Faves20

Strobe Light, #200 (This is what is on my ring finger in the picture!)

These are all my monthly lovelies for June! I hope you enjoyed them and will definitely check out some of these products for yourself! I’ll post another list at the end of July, but subscribe and keep checking in for more from me on TSC! (Unintentional rhyme, but let’s roll with it.)

March Lovelies

Hi everyone!

Well, it’s been settled- I’m an awful person. I’m sorry, I just… give me a minute.

Ok. I’m back.

I know I promised to do monthly lovelies every month, but here we are, on April Fool’s Day, the first of the month, and I skipped my February lovelies. I’m sorry everyone. I wish it were an April Fool’s joke, but this is the hard cold truth…

But we can’t cry over spilled milk, right? We just need to clean up and move on… to my MARCH LOVELIES!

*P.S- I’m doing a different format than January’s post, but let me know which you like better: the images made on Polyvore, or my own photos? Or possibly a mix of both? Just tell me what you’d like to see (:

Gel Nail Polish

This is was my first gel manicure- got them done for my birthday and absolutely loved them!

This is was my first gel manicure- got them done for my birthday and absolutely loved them!

The story behind me getting a gel manicure is actually a funny not-so-funny story… I decided to experiment with stick on nails the day of my sixteenth birthday party. Of course, as all last minute tasks end, it was a disaster. The tips of my fingers were coated in the stinky adhesive and I was about to have a hernia at the thought of my nails being amputated on my birthday. My sweet mother calmed me down and booked a last-minute-rush nail appointment with her nail tech and she worked her magic! My nails looked gorgeous, and the polish lasted and shone for a good 2 1/2 weeks! (Until I managed to pick it all away due to nerves… of course I would manage to do that…) If you want a mani that lasts, go for the gel! Note to all: STEER CLEAR OF STICK ONS!

Rose Gold Jewelry

I have a necklace like this, but rather than an infinity symbol, it's a jewel encrusted cross

I have a necklace like this, but rather than an infinity symbol, it’s a jewel encrusted cross

I’ve always preferred silver jewelry, but one of my best friends bought a rose gold necklace for me as a 16th birthday gift, and I’ve loved Rose Gold ever since. I’ll post a picture of it in my birthday haul, but it looks like the necklace above, but the infinity sign is replaced with a horizontal cross. It has little diamonds on it, and is strung onto a rose gold chain. I absolutely love it and I wear it every day. I know most believe that gold is an outdated colour, but look closely– honey, that’s not gold. It has a rosy tint to make the yellow tones less harsh. This modernizes the material and it’s just as popular as silver.

Colour Smart: If you have fair skin or even an olive tone, this will look best on you as opposed to silver. You’re tone will look warmer and more vibrant.

Wristlets/Money Purses

I actually have this same wristlet... sorry the picture isn't as artsy :-/ #ohwell

I actually have this same wristlet… sorry the picture isn’t as artsy :-/ #ohwell

I just recently got two wristlets, and I usually don’t use them because I prefer crossbodies, standard purses, or totes- they’re practical, stylish, and carry everything I need! I will admit, though, that I’ve been using the wristlets a lot, especially to school. Carrying a tote or any other large purse with a backpack and other miscellaneous items is not that easy… They’re really great to hold my keys, various cards, cash, etc. and they have just as much style as the next bag! I recommend this mainly to students because we are constantly on the go, and when you are going out more leisurely, then grab that handbag and work it, darling!

Nail Polish

When my nails are on point, my life is on point. Enough said.

When my nails are on point, my life is on point. Enough said.

No one wants to walk around naked. Well, neither do my nails. I must always have my nails done, and if they aren’t done, then I feel like a part of me is missing. If you’re laughing to yourself alone in your room right now at the fact that this crazy British girl thinks her nails are naked when they’re not done, then stop. Right now. It’s a serious matter. Anyway, I’ve been trying some different colours that I wouldn’t normally use, like Metro Chic (a gray colour) by Sephora, and I’ve been loving them. I just love how my nails look once they have a fresh coat of nail polish, because when they’re done, I have my whole life together. Same goes for my hair. Moving on.

8tracks

It's like Pandora and Spotify combined. It's magic, pretty much.

It’s like Pandora and Spotify combined. It’s magic, pretty much.

Alright, here is a non-beauty/fashion related lovely- 8tracks! I’ve been using it for a while now, but I just recently got really into it. Basically, it’s a free internet music radio service in which you select a mood, genre, or artist, and it will generate/ pull up playlists that match your selections! When using it on the computer, you can have up to three selections, and on your phone you have only two. Depending on how you look at it, that could be a pro or a con. To me, it doesn’t ever matter because, I kid you not, the accuracy of the music they pull for you is incredible! If you’re happy and want to get pumped in the morning, they have the perfect playlist for you. The best part- you can create your own playlists with the music you want. Add some tags depending on the feel of your mix, and others can listen to it! It’s truly amazing, but don’t take my work for it, try it for yourself!

Flappy Birds

No description can do this game justice. You could say we have a love/hate relationship.

No description can do this game justice. You could say we have a love/hate relationship.

I have no description for this but that this game… has truly tested my emotions. All I ask is that you don’t judge me because I know we have all been emotionally invested in this game at one point or another.

Well, those are all of my Monthly Lovelies for March! If you guys have any of the same favourite items, or want to share yours with me, please feel free to comment down below! I promise I’ll post more regularly from now on (both in the Monthly Lovelies and everything else, haha) Don’t forget to check out all of my social media, you can find them under “Contact Me” in the Menu Bar! Until next time, my loves…

January Lovlies

Hey everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is my first post in my Monthly Lovelies Series, and I know it’s coming two days too late, but better late than never, yeah?

The first month of the New Year brought me new things to start absolutely L.O.V.I.N.G. Of course, I just have to share them with you!

Favorite Baby Lip Flavors

I don’t think I have come across someone yet who doesn’t like chapstick. It’s hydrating, it makes your lips feel good… what more could you ask for? Well, ladies, if you like chapstick, you will LOVE Baby Lips. It’s basically like chapstick, but it’s instantly hydrating, and, wait for it… it acts just like a lip stain or lip gloss!! There are clear options, of course. If you’re looking to add some color to your lips, though, as well as hydration, then Baby Lips is for you! I use Baby Lips, and within a week of using it, my lips were noticeably softer.

Favourite Mascara, January

My number one makeup piece that I could never live without is mascara. My mum bought this for me last month and asked me to try it, and boy did I see instant results! The mascara really lives up to it’s name. I usually apply two coats of mascara (for good measure), and with this, I only needed one. My eyelashes are pretty long compared to the average lash length, and this lengthened and thickened my lashes. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to lengthen their lashes!

My favorite app right now!

Ok, if being addicted to Polyvore is wrong, I don’t want to be right. Polyvore is an amazing website that allows you to put together high quality images of outfits, home decor sets, and more. When I say high quality, I mean High-Def. HD. Almost real. It’s amazing.  (I actually made these images on Polyvore!) In addition, you can search and shop for apparel, shoes, beauty products and more from all of your favourite stores in one place! Membership is absolutely free, as well as their iPhone app. You can check out my Polyvore account @thestuddedcollar. I’ll be doing some contests there, so be sure to check it out!

My loves, Infinity Scarves

Infinity scarves are absolutely amazing. It’s the classic scarf revolutionized. I’ve been wearing these so much during these winter months. If you know England, then you know our cold, dreary, and rainy weather. I despise the cold with a burning passion, (if laughed at that unintentional oxymoron, I applaud you) so I wear these often. Their so cute, and I just… gah I just love them. Cream an maroon are my favourite colors for them… I have too many of them to be honest….

Favourite Shoes of January

BOOOOOOOTS boots boots boots boots boots boots boots. I think you get the point.

I’ll be honest, wearing leather riding boots is not easy in a frequently rainy country, but I’m Gigi Parrington… I find a way.

Go to Cable Knit Sweater

Last, but certainly not least, cable knit sweaters. I mentioned these in my Back To School bit earlier last year, but I fell in love with them more recently. I’ve worn these with leggings, jeans, trousers, skirts, anything. They’re so warm and vintage but so stylish.

There you have it, my 6 January Lovelies! I’ll be back at the end of the month with my February lovelies, and I can’t wait to share them with you! I think I’ll do a contest with this for February…

In the mean time, comment below what you were raving about last month! I’d love to know and learn about some new things to try (: Check out my Polyvore, Instagram, Twitter and other social media to keep up with me. Until next time my darlings…

Stay Fab,

Gigi xx.
