Spring Break: Day Makeup Look

Hi hi, loves, and happy Friday!

I am super excited about this article because it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. With Spring Break just around the corner, I thought I would come to you with a few fun articles just in time for every student’s week in the Spring.

Today, I’m coming to you guys with a Day to Night Makeup tutorial. It’s fairly easy, and it’s pretty versatile because you can have a nice day look that can easily be turned into a darker, more defined evening look without removing any of your makeup. You could also do each one individually and rock it however you like! Anyway, let’s get started with the day look. (:

1. First, we’re going to start with a fresh face. Make sure to wash your face so that your makeup goes on smoothly.

2. Next, I’m using my foundation to even out my skin. I mix these two foundations to match my skintone- I’m combining Covergirl TruBlend in the shade d6 and Covergirl Outlast 2 in 1 in the shade Honey Almond. You can use your fingers, a sponge, or a brush to blend in your foundation, depending on your preference.

3. Now, I’m using my Elf HD Lifting Concealer on my eyes to even out the color as well as prime my eyelids.

4. Now, I’m going to use my Kabuki brush to set my concealer and foundation with my matte powder by Covergirl in Honey Almond.DSC_0061foundation done2

5. Now let’s work on the eyes. I’m going to use this Rose Blush pink shadow all over my eyelid. It’ll brighten my eyes and, since it’s so bright, it will illuminate the other colors I use and make them appear more pigmented.DSC_0088 DSC_0100

6. Now, on the outer corners of the lid and the outer half of my under eyes, I’m going in with this warm Cocoa Brown shadowDSC_0113DSC_0122 DSC_0117

7. Now it’s time to put this lighter brown shade in the crease to define our eye shape.DSC_0127DSC_0119

8. Next, we’ll use a black pencil liner on the upper eyelid for definition. I’m using the shade Black Out by Ulta. After applying it to my top lid, I will smudge it a bit with a smudge brush to make the appearance thicker and smokier.DSC_0141 DSC_0152

9. This is one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine- filling in my eyebrows. Looking at the difference just makes me feel accomplished because a good eyebrow job equals a good day. (: This is the difference between my eyebrows when done and undone.DSC_0187

10. Now, it’s time to frame our eyes by applying mascara to our lashes. I’m using Colossal Volume by Maybelline for a separated, fanned out look.DSC_0202DSC_0203

11. After this, it’s time to put our highlight and bronzer on our cheekbones. I’m using Warm Bronzer by Elf, and I’m using the lighter shade on the left to highlight my cheekbones.DSC_0227

12. Now it’s time to add some color to our cheeks with a rosy blush. This is Dust Rose from Sephora.DSC_0324

13. Finally, we shall apply a tinted balm for a pop of color on the lips. I chose Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Pink Punch. I chose a tinted balm as opposed to a lip stick or lip gloss because it keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day, and the color lasts really well for several hours while on the go without looking to harsh. Perfect for a casual day look.

Here you have it- the final look! I love this makeup look because it perfectly defines all your features without going to overboard for a casual day. It’s pretty versatile, and the eye makeup looks good with any eye color because the colors used are pretty neutral.

If you wanted to define any parts of your makeup look more or less, then you’re able to do so and still look well put together. In fact, this makeup look can easily be transformed into an evening look without removing one swipe of makeup. You can even do the night makeup look on its own for an evening out! If you want to see the continuation of this evening makeup look, stay tuned on the blog for part two. (:

Thank you guys so much for checking out this tutorial. It’s my first one and there will plenty more to come! I hope you enjoyed it and, most of all, just have fun! Until next time…DSC_0269

Fall Into Autumn Trends

Fall into Autumn Style

Alright lovies, autumn is just about here (technically, it begins on September 22…) and I know something you don’t… the hot trends for Fall 2013! As a kid, I learned sharing is the nice thing to do, so I want to share the trends for fall this year with you. That way, we won’t be stuck in that summer rut and we can be ahead of the game together (: Let’s get started!

1. Brights + Animal Prints

It seems like natural, cool and warm tones are being hushed this year by this loud and proud trend.

It seems like natural, cool and warm tones are being hushed this year by this loud and proud trend.

Anything seen at Fall Fashion Week is a must in your closet. This trendy combo was seen as tremendously popular among several designers. DKNY models rocked cheeky cheetah spots while Burberry showed off cool and abstracted giraffe patterns. Moschino Cheap and Chic also flaunted a loud leopard print with a bright pink mini skirt. Note to self: show the fashion world your wild  side!

  • Tip: Try a neutral coloured animal print pullover with a bright skirt or pants.

2. Micro pattern

Simplicity goes a long way

Simplicity goes a long way

Small prints are leaving a large footprint in the fashion world this season. Polka dots, stripes, and even lovely hearts are taking on the minimalistic approach.  These patterns shouldn’t be at all overwhelming. In fact, don’t over think it because the style is simple! Thin stripes or itty bity polka dots are a simply sweet statement in themselves.

3. The Three B’s

Take on these 3 B’s to be absolutely fabulous!

Take on these 3 B’s to be absolutely fabulous!

Well ladies, we all know it’s true: what boys can do, we can do better (and do it in heels.) But, we conquer males even in fashion! Remember these 3 B’s: Button downs, Blazers and Boyfriend jeans.  While button down shirts and blazers can be dressed up and down, boyfriend jeans are more laid back and casual. Nonetheless, these three are tres fabu, oui?

4. Dainty “bunny ear” hair ties

Add some flair to your everyday pony with these cute hair bands.

But really, these are too cute not to wear!

During the summer, everyone seemed to be wearing those non crease hair ties… don’t be one of the crowd by recycling that trend this fall! This time around, your hair ties should have some spunk. With a unique, feminine feel, these silky ties add a chic accent to any outfit.  And guess what? These hair ties don’t crease and they’re cuter than this summer’s repeated hair elastic.

5. Lil’ Booty

"These boots were made for walkin'..."

“These boots were made for walkin’…”

This fall trend is a classic, and quite obvious. Keep in mind the type of boot that is most popular this year: booties! (Ankle boots, that is.) From combat boots, to bootie wedges, these boots were definitely made for walking the streets this autumn. Of course, our beloved saddle boots are still a hit. Just stay current and show of your cutie booties! (The shoes, ladies. Modest is hottest, ok?)

6. Midi Rings

Sometimes being stuck in the middle isn’t so bad

It looks like midi rings are ready for round two as they transition from summer to fall. Varying from intricate to simple and delicate, these rings have been, and will be, all the rage this fall. If you’re yet to try out this jewelry trend, give them a go! They give you’re jewelry some attitude.

7. Army Jacket

Attent-hut! These jackets should become a staple in your closet and become a go to jacket!

Attent-hut! These jackets should become a staple in your closet and become a go to jacket!

You can look just as tough as the troops do while still looking fashion forward. Army jacket’s color—olive green—can be used as a neutral, so this jacket is very versatile. Pair it with almost anything and never even think of sacrificing warmth for style; army style jackets are very warm and cozy! Our servicemen and women have started a trend that will be one of the most popular this autumn! How awesome.

There you have it ladies, some of the fall trends for this season! I can’t wait to rock these items. You can check out my Back to School post (The Hallway is Your Runway) under “Trendsetter” for more fall trends. If you have any questions or suggestions for new posts, just comment them below! Have a fabulous fall.
