Trend Report: Au Naturel

Hello, darlings! Hope you all have been doing well since I last spoke to you all (which was actually two days ago…).

I’ve been looking at a lot of artwork recently, and I read a comment from an art critic somewhere and he said that minimalism and simplicity are braver, bolder, and at times more beautiful than some more elaborate art pieces. Fashion and everything about it is art, and it looks like the minimalist’s art movement has reached the hair and makeup department in the fashion world.

Today I come to you with a Trend Report about hair and makeup, and it may the simplest one yet.

What do these ladies have in common? Their makeup! Yes they are in fact wearing makeup, but it’s the minimal, barely-there, natural glow makeup look that is steadily but surely making its way around.

I think that stepping out au naturel in regards to makeup and hair is a great beauty move, especially in the summer. Wearing tons of makeup and constantly styling your hair can really take a toll on a girl during the warmer months. Not to mention that lots of makeup can tend to look a bit washed toward the end of the day (if you don’t use the right products, that is.)

Sure, go ahead and wear more makeup when stepping out for some nicer occasions if you’d like, that is still a-ok! Personally, I slightly prefer this natural makeup + hair look this summer because to me…

a) you’ll look like you just came from the beach, glowing (or is that just me and my imagination?)

b) it takes a lesser toll on your face and hair, leaving them healthier (they will thank you!) and…

c) beyond a summer trend, it lets more of your natural beauty shine through, rather than stay hidden behind foundation, concealer, eyebrow tint, primer, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, the works!!

There is something very chic about this trend and I’m excited to see how and where it goes. Actually, I may do some posts for no-heat hair styles, a “no-makeup” makeup tutorial, and maybe one about great products to use during the summer. Let me know if you want any of these posts to go up and any other suggestions you may have! I have been writing up a storm, so you will most likely hear from me again soon… (:

Stay Fab,
