Spring Break: Day Makeup Look

Hi hi, loves, and happy Friday!

I am super excited about this article because it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. With Spring Break just around the corner, I thought I would come to you with a few fun articles just in time for every student’s week in the Spring.

Today, I’m coming to you guys with a Day to Night Makeup tutorial. It’s fairly easy, and it’s pretty versatile because you can have a nice day look that can easily be turned into a darker, more defined evening look without removing any of your makeup. You could also do each one individually and rock it however you like! Anyway, let’s get started with the day look. (:

1. First, we’re going to start with a fresh face. Make sure to wash your face so that your makeup goes on smoothly.

2. Next, I’m using my foundation to even out my skin. I mix these two foundations to match my skintone- I’m combining Covergirl TruBlend in the shade d6 and Covergirl Outlast 2 in 1 in the shade Honey Almond. You can use your fingers, a sponge, or a brush to blend in your foundation, depending on your preference.

DSC_0037step1.1 step 2.2

3. Now, I’m using my Elf HD Lifting Concealer on my eyes to even out the color as well as prime my eyelids.

DSC_0075DSC_0077

4. Now, I’m going to use my Kabuki brush to set my concealer and foundation with my matte powder by Covergirl in Honey Almond.DSC_0061foundation done2

5. Now let’s work on the eyes. I’m going to use this Rose Blush pink shadow all over my eyelid. It’ll brighten my eyes and, since it’s so bright, it will illuminate the other colors I use and make them appear more pigmented.DSC_0088 DSC_0100

6. Now, on the outer corners of the lid and the outer half of my under eyes, I’m going in with this warm Cocoa Brown shadowDSC_0113DSC_0122 DSC_0117

7. Now it’s time to put this lighter brown shade in the crease to define our eye shape.DSC_0127DSC_0119

8. Next, we’ll use a black pencil liner on the upper eyelid for definition. I’m using the shade Black Out by Ulta. After applying it to my top lid, I will smudge it a bit with a smudge brush to make the appearance thicker and smokier.DSC_0141 DSC_0152

9. This is one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine- filling in my eyebrows. Looking at the difference just makes me feel accomplished because a good eyebrow job equals a good day. (: This is the difference between my eyebrows when done and undone.DSC_0187

10. Now, it’s time to frame our eyes by applying mascara to our lashes. I’m using Colossal Volume by Maybelline for a separated, fanned out look.DSC_0202DSC_0203

11. After this, it’s time to put our highlight and bronzer on our cheekbones. I’m using Warm Bronzer by Elf, and I’m using the lighter shade on the left to highlight my cheekbones.DSC_0227

12. Now it’s time to add some color to our cheeks with a rosy blush. This is Dust Rose from Sephora.DSC_0324

13. Finally, we shall apply a tinted balm for a pop of color on the lips. I chose Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Pink Punch. I chose a tinted balm as opposed to a lip stick or lip gloss because it keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day, and the color lasts really well for several hours while on the go without looking to harsh. Perfect for a casual day look.
kayb

Here you have it- the final look! I love this makeup look because it perfectly defines all your features without going to overboard for a casual day. It’s pretty versatile, and the eye makeup looks good with any eye color because the colors used are pretty neutral.

DSC_0255 DSC_0250
If you wanted to define any parts of your makeup look more or less, then you’re able to do so and still look well put together. In fact, this makeup look can easily be transformed into an evening look without removing one swipe of makeup. You can even do the night makeup look on its own for an evening out! If you want to see the continuation of this evening makeup look, stay tuned on the blog for part two. (:

Thank you guys so much for checking out this tutorial. It’s my first one and there will plenty more to come! I hope you enjoyed it and, most of all, just have fun! Until next time…DSC_0269

OOTN: Leaf It to Me

Hey there, friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful day or evening and are taking it easy this weekend.

Last night, I had the privilege of attending the Stanley Korshak Shakiversary party to celebrate the store’s one year anniversary of being in its new space. Check out my recap of the festivities here!

IMG_2096Happy SHAKiversary, Stanley Korshak!

I had just as much fun at the party as I did getting ready, so I thought to share with you guys my outfit and makeup details with you all.IMG_2128

I decided to go with a dark brown, smokey and earthy look. I thought that the colors would marry well with my leafy green romper and tan accentsIMG_2130

1. After applying my foundation and loose powder, I applied a bronze shadow all over my lid.

2. I then used an angled blush to apply a matte, dark chocolate-brown shadow on the outer half of my lid.

3. Next, I took a matte, medium shaded brown and applied it in my crease for definition.

Beauty Tip: After I applied the brown shadows to my outer corners and my crease, my bronze shadow was lost under the matte colors. Because I wanted my bronze shadow to pop more and brighten my eye, I re-applied the bronze shadow a little bit more with a smaller, angled shadow brush. The angle and small size helped to make my application more precise.

4. Once my shadows had set, I used black liquid liner on my eyelid to create a thick winged look. There are so many ways to create a winged liner look, so sound off in the comments or like this article if you would like for me to post a tutorial!

Beauty Tip: To make sure that your liquid liner won’t smudge, crease, or fade throughout the day or night, once the liner has dried, set it with a matching colored shadow! This will make your eyeliner last so much longer and maintain a fresh look.

5. I brushed and shaped my brows, and, to ensure that they stayed in place, I brushed them with a bit of clear brow gel. I filled my brows in with a mix of dark brown and black brow powder; dark brown alone would be a tad too light, and black alone would be too harsh.

6. Finally, I applied a red-brown liquid lipstick to go with the earthy look.

Now, let’s move on to the outfit details!

IMG_2148

Romper: H&M | Blazer: Jessica Simpson | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse: Ralph Lauren | Necklace: Forever 21 |

IMG_2135 IMG_2140 IMG_2138IMG_2141

I simply can not get over this romper from H&M’s Conscious line- it’s so fun and perfect for the summer. Rompers are pretty tricky because you are basically wearing a top and bottom sewn together in one size, so you can’t pick and choose the size of the top and bottom. This, however, is the first romper that I have tried on and loved the fit. Not only is the tailoring close to perfect, this leafy romper is very comfortable! I added the tan belt to define my waist a bit more because without it, the romper appeared to be a straight cut. The addition of a belt to most outfits is a great way to quickly add some shape and provide the illusion of an hourglass figure.
IMG_2152 IMG_2146 IMG_2144

My favorite part of this romper has to be the leaf pattern. It is such a fresh, fun look, and I think it could definitely be dressed up or down! For the party, I wore it in a more formal and dressy fashion, but I can’t wait to wear it again and try out a more casual look! I’ll update you all on how that goes… (:
IMG_2143

Thank you guys so much for reading, and I hope you liked the mini makeup tutorial! Like and/or comment on this post is you would like for me to do more makeup tutorials, and also let me know what other types of articles you all would like to see from me! I love you guys so so much, and until next time…IMG_2149

On the Radar: Madison Patrylick of MadJewels

Hello, hello, hello, loves! I’m baaaack! Boy, have I been absent lately. You can hear those crickets chirping loud and clear… and let’s clean those cobwebs out of here, please! Geez Louise, I have to dust off this keyboard, too…

Oh, but all jokes aside, I have been insanely busy lately. As a student, school is a huge priority for me, and junior year has been anything but a cakewalk, but I’ve gotten to a point where I can return to my pink Studded Collar throne and grace my bloggy kingdom with my presence once more. (:

Now, I’m very excited to return with this article. Late last year I met a sweetheart of a designer named Madison Patrylick.

madison patrylick prof pic

Madison is the driving force, founder, and designer behind the company MadJewels. From designing safety-pin bracelets for her grandparents at the age of eight, to the launch of her vibrant jewelry company in 2011, Mrs. Patrylick has come a long way in her career. MadJewels specializes in hand crafted jewelry using gorgeous, high quality, natural materials and gemstones. I had the opportunity to interview Mrs. Patrylick about her company, her business advice, and some of her fashion must-haves. Keep reading to learn more about the face of MadJewels!

Kay B: How would you describe your brand? What sets your jewelry apart from others and makes it unique?

Madison Patrylick: Mad Jewels is bohemian chic and very bright. I think jewelry should bring out the brightness in your personality, and is really is a way of further expressing who you are as a person. Mad Jewels is unique compared to many other jewelry brands because it is BRIGHT. I am not afraid to use color, and I really love a good piece that pops.

Kay: Take me through a typical day in the life of a jewelry designer.

Madison: Oh gosh, every day is different! The to-do list is always a mile high; we are busy working on shipping out web orders, filling orders for our retail stores, heading to market to restock on supplies, designing new styles for upcoming collections, photographing new pieces, putting them into catalogs and lookbooks, marketing, social media, accounting, attending trade shows all over the country, and so much more.  There are so many business aspects separate from actually designing and putting a piece together, and most people don’t realize that!

Kay: What do you prefer about working for yourself versus working under someone? What are the pros and cons?

Madison: PROS: Love being able to spend time with my husband and daughter on a regular basis. She is the most important thing I have done in my life and always my priority. Working for yourself also allows you to be able to work when you feel most inspired or most productive, rather than being chained to a desk 8 hours a day.

CONS: I 150% miss receiving a regular paycheck, a Christmas bonus, and healthcare benefits. It’s way more expensive to be self-employed. I am now in charge of employees, so I have to make sure they come to work on time and do what they’re supposed to, so that the company isn’t losing money.

Kay: What has it taken to develop your brand into what it is today?

Madison: Blood, sweat, and tears…literally. I have stayed up until 3 am some nights completing orders, and have ended up with bloody fingers at the end of some days after making so many pieces of jewelry. It is very trying at times, and I have to constantly find the tenacity and will to keep going – and not throw the towel in.

When I have to travel for trade shows, it’s really difficult being away from my family and young daughter, but it has allowed Mad Jewels to meet so many new buyers and grow our rapidly expanding boutique stores that carry our line.

I have also made a lot of mistakes, and you have to quickly learn from them, get up and keep moving forward. But, as the saying goes: “Nothing worth while ever comes easy.” I can honestly say that I am doing what I love, so most of the time, it doesn’t feel like “work.”

Kay: It must be nice to be your own boss and manage your company- what advice do you have for young women who want to follow that path and start their own business?

Madison: It is great to be your own boss, but you have to be very disciplined! I would say be extremely organized; this is something I still struggle with. I am constantly reorganizing each and every day and finding new ways to stay “put together” within our office. Time management is a MUST. I have a detailed calendar and tend to certain business aspects at specific times during the week, such as planning out our collections, etc.

I also would advise anyone who is interested in running their own business to research in depth what type of costs up front they should expect, as well as save up money or have something else on the side to be able to live off of.  In new business ventures, the first few years are “startup” years, and most businesses put just about every dollar earned back into the business without paying themselves in order to continually grow.

Kay: How did you get the name for your company, Mad Jewels?

Madison: My dad called me “Mad,” short for Madison, growing up – so it fell right in. I do have to say though, when I am out or people say, “Oh, there’s Mad about Jewels,” it drives me craaaazy. It’s Mad Jewels, just like a first name and last name.

Kay: What is your favorite collection that you’ve created thus far, and which piece is your favorite overall?

Madison: Honestly, I would say our upcoming Summer Collection is probably my favorite. The La Dulce Vida collection for summer has neons and brights, paired with neutrals and everyday gems – so it really does have something for every occasion. Oftentimes, to get through working nonstop, I keep my head always “at the beach,” so I associate this collection very much with me being on a beach in my cute baubles and a bikini — rather than stuck in the office working. 🙂 My favorite pieces are the Serenity bracelets; they’re bone, freshwater pearls, hematite and quartz. Quartz is a great healing stone, and these are just neutral enough you can wear with a t-shirt and jeans or paired with brighter bracelets and a fun outfit.

Kay: Do you have any fashion, style, or beauty trends that you’re really liking right now?

Madison: I LOVE FRINGE! Leather, suede, lace – all of the textures done in more feminine ways are so hot right now. I am also loving the combat boots look for cooler temps. I own several pairs of gladiator sandals, too; I bought my first pair when I lived in Spain in 2006 before they were a “thing” in the States. To me, gladiators can take your typical sundress into something amazing.

As for beauty trends, I’ve been rocking purple lips lately! Its a very bright purple, and so fun for summer; I feel like it makes my blue eyes really pop!

Kay: If you could only keep 3 items in your purse, what would they be and why?

Madison: Burt’s Bees Chapstick (because I’m always chewing my lips when I’m deep in thought), my wallet (duh, I might need to buy stuff!), and a camera to snap pics of my cute little nugget…. I would love to not have to carry my phone around and be able to “disconnect” more, actually!

Kay: What is your favorite item in your closet, and what staple item do you believe every girl needs to have in her closet?

Madison: I recently purchased a vegan leather jacket that has a slightly wider shoulders, which balances out my hips! I am really loving pairing it with just about everything for an edgier look. I think every girl needs a cozy white and black v-neck, a well fitting pair of jeans, and a pair of killer gladiator sandals. AND OF COURSE, TONS OF MAD JEWELS!

Kay: From where do you draw inspiration for your designs?

Madison: I find inspiration all over the place! My daughter inspires me quite often; she’s so young that she makes me really take a step back sometimes to enjoy my surroundings and notice the little things in life a bit more than I ever have.

I also love getting color inspiration from my travels all over the world. Japan (and Asia) is probably where I’ve drawn most inspiration from, because they are a very vibrant culture and even their landscapes seem to have so much more color to me than many other places in the world. For example, our Belissima Hoops were inspired by the cherry blossoms that are a specific shade of pink; the labradorite ovals pick up so many hues of blue and iridescence that can be seen in the ever changing sky.

Kay: What do you hope for the future of Mad Jewels?

Madison: My long term goal is to be a household name! Ultimately, I want to have retail storefronts where anyone can come in and dress themselves up in our jewels, or send their man (or woman) in for sweet little gifts from the heart!

Kay: Have you faced any hurdles as a female business/company owner, and how have you overcome these obstacles?

Madison: Honestly, off the top of my head, I cannot think of any obstacles I have encountered just from being a woman. There are a lot of powerful women out there today, and so much of the fashion industry is run by strong women, I think I would be surprised if I did. My biggest obstacle in general as a business owner, is people underestimating all the things it takes to run our company; I don’t just sit at my desk and make jewelry to sell…it’s so much more than that.

Kay: What are the most important lessons you have learned in business and do you think these are applicable in everyday situations?

Madison: What a great question! Always listen to your gut, always. If it doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not.  On the contrary, if you feel like its right, then don’t let anyone try to convince you otherwise.

Don’t get caught up in the bigger picture, and work on everything a little bit at a time — Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I also need to learn how to not be so hard on myself. I am my biggest critic, so sometimes I get caught up in things that maybe I haven’t been able to accomplish yet, and have to sometimes take a step back to regroup and say “Wow, I did that!” I think absolutely any “life lesson” overflows into a good business model and vice versa. At the end of the day, YOU are your business when it comes down to it. So how you treat your customers, employees and how you handle everyday situations is basically the same for your business.

A Night Among the Stars: FGI Rising Stars Award Show

Hello hello, my loves, and Happy Snowy Studded Collar Saturday (boy, is that a mouthful…) Yes, I have been absent from the blogosphere for much longer than I would ever have liked, but being a full time student and having such a demanding schedule really takes a toll! But I promise to be a bit more consistent from now on. (:

What better way to get back into the groove of things than to share with you my experience at my very first award show?

IMG_5930I had the pleasure of being invited to and attending the Fashion Group International Rising Stars Award Show in Dallas this past Thursday, and what a show it was! For those who do not know, the Rising Stars Awards are granted to those in the art and fashion industry who have truly made their mark in their area of expertise. These fields include art, photography, jewelry, beauty, interior design, and, of course, fashion. It was so humbling to be in the presence of such hard workers who have really made a name for themselves, and I was honored to be among them that evening.

IMG_5751

Along with the award shows, the night also included a series of fashion shows from big-name brands like Macy’s, BCBGeneration, Karen Millen, Nordstrom, Belk, and Aftershock London. Here are some shots from the first show by Macy’s.

IMG_5756

I loved the vibrancy of the collection. In every piece color was incorporated and each caught everyone’s eye. In all honesty, there were some looks that were a little too busy in color for my liking. However, each piece within those ensembles was gorgeous and we must remember that not every outfit is ready to wear off of the runway- some are merely meant to inspire!

IMG_5782

This is my favorite look from the Macy’s show because it displays a cute way to dress up a tee-shirt dress that can also easily be dressed down. The pop of color in the shoes was a great choice by the stylist- not too overwhelming, but easily makes a statement.

 IMG_5795

Next came the BCBGeneration show. This collection was a stark contrast to the previous of Macy’s- here we were shown a gorgeous compilation of spring pieces in neutral tones with some sparse, light additions of color every so often. The color scheme was made of black, blue and white and the outfits themselves were not at all structured. I think that BCBG did a wonderful job of capturing the carefree and loose aesthetic of spring while maintaining a chic and put together collection. Bravo!

IMG_5825 IMG_5807 IMG_5801

The romper on the left is so cute. I love the balance of the full-length sleeves with the shorts. A great piece to own for Spring and an even better addition to purchase for Spring Break! *heart eyes*

More runway shows ensued from brands like Karen Millen…

IMG_5896 IMG_5903 IMG_5902

and BCBGIMG_5939 IMG_5992 IMG_5987 IMG_5958

Can we take a moment to appreciate how flawlessly BCBG combined two of the top trends right now- Leather AND Fringe??? Way to make it to my heart, darlings. *swoon*

IMG_5957

IMG_5954 IMG_5949 IMG_5946 IMG_5945

The awards were given in a staggered manner, so after every few runway shows, a few awards were given. The lovely Mrs. Shay Geyer, IBB  Designer and Good Morning Texas Design Expert was the emcee of the evening and did a fantastic job hosting the night. The first awards were for the Rising Stars in Beauty, Jewelry Design, and Art.

IMG_5850Congratulations to Dr. Nalia Malik, the Rising Star in Beauty…

IMG_5865

Megan Thorne, Rising Star in Jewelry Design…

IMG_5877

And Shayema Rahim, the Rising Star in Art!

I would love to also extend my congratulations to the Rising Star in Photography, Brandon Lyon, and the Rising Star in Interior Design, Brant McFarlain.

Besides seeing the awards and watching the shows, I did have my fair share of fun and met/ reunited with some wonderful people!

IMG_5831

It was such an honor to meet the lovely designer Lucy Dang who was also in the running for a Rising Star award in Fashion. I am in love with her designs and beautiful execution, and she was just as sweet in person as I thought her to be. (:IMG_5926

I also had the honor of meeing co-founder and Editor of DFW Style Daily, Leah Frazier. She was so fun to chat with and it was so great to speak to someone as accomplished as her- I gained quite a few key lessons from her. Go check out her online publication, DFW Style Daily, if you haven’t already!

IMG_5928

Fellow bloggers Cydni of It’s Her Strut, Ty Jones of Words and Wardrobes, and I hit it off and had some fun with the photo booth. (: They’re funny, sweet, and incredibly smart. Go feast your eyes upon their blog goodness!

OK STORY TIME~~

While chatting it up with others in the biz like Alex Young of Eat Style Dallas, photographer extraordinaire Stephanie Drenka of Geek Glam, and Velma Puente of VP Cosmetics, I would see men in police uniforms walking around the venue. My first thought was, “Wow, security is pretty tight around here if they’re mingling among the guests!” Then, later in the evening I saw the two officers looking at me from behind their cop glasses (BTW: the technical term for “cop glasses” is Aviators. Please remember this…) and they stopped me in my tracks. They asked if I was having a good time and I responded saying of course I was! Then they said that after inspecting me for a little bit they were going to have to give me a citation- my first citation!!! “Oh gosh, a citation for what, officers?” I responded with a light laugh and a smile.

“A citation… for being Fashionably Fierce!!!”

No, these were not your every day police officers.

IMG_5993

These were the Fashion Police.

The Fashion Police prowled the venue throughout the evening and gave out “citations” to some of the best dressed of the evening. Needless to say I was quite flattered and was more than excited to receive my first positive citation from the (Fashion) Police.

I even got to take my first “mugshot”!

IMG_6434 IMG_6433

The last award of the evening was the most exciting one- Rising Star in Fashion! The nominees were Lucy Dang, the designer I had the pleasure of meeting earlier that evening; Esé Azénabor, a friend of mine and newly showcased designer at Spring/ Summer New York Fashion Week 2015; and Binzario Couture, who shared a gorgeous bridal collection.

Here are a few shots of the amazing talent. First up- Lucy Dang.IMG_6012 IMG_6014 IMG_6020 IMG_6024 IMG_6025 IMG_6076 IMG_6097

Next we saw Binzario Couture.IMG_6112 IMG_6163 IMG_6191 IMG_6192 IMG_6227 IMG_6233 IMG_6185 IMG_6189 IMG_6237 IMG_6241 IMG_6244

And last, but by no means least, Esé Azénabor

IMG_6250 IMG_6253 IMG_6260 IMG_6267 IMG_6277 IMG_6297 IMG_6319 IMG_6321 IMG_6324 IMG_6328 IMG_6332 IMG_6371 IMG_6399 IMG_6402

After watching all three shows, I think everyone can agree that it was anyone’s game. All three designers were equally deserving of the award as they and their designs were absolutely phenomenal- out of this world!

In the end, Lucy Dang took home the award and now holds the title of Rising Star in Fashion. Congratulations!

After the show’s finale, I met up with dear friend and designer, Allison Mitchell, who looked fabulous as usual. I also got to chat with Esé for a bit afterwards and she, too, looked flawless and was just as warm and bubbly as ever.

IMG_6437IMG_6438Allison and Esé showed at NYFW together, pairing Esé’s clothes with Allison’s purses, and they put on quite a show! Check out both of their websites for more details regarding their work and products.

It was a dream of a night and I still feel humbled to say I laughed and danced among the stars, rising and risen. Thank you, FGI, for such a memorable night!IMG_6441

That’s a wrap! Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this article as much as I did writing it. DITTO: Revolutionizing the Art of Shopping

Hello, my darlings, happy December! I hope you had lovely Thanksgivings and are ready to dive into the Christmas season. I had been a little under the weather, but I am back up and ready to share some exciting things with you as 2014 comes to a close and we start anew in 2015. (Let’s be real- did 2014 even happen?!)

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

If you have been following me for a while, then you know that I LOVE sunglasses. Getting the right pair that not only suits my style, but also fits my face shape and size is very important to me. I’m also very careful when I buy sunglasses because I actually browse for mine online- at times, I’m not sure if the sunshades will fit my head well or if they may look a little off because of my face shape, and the uncertainty can really bother me!

Imagine ordering a pair of sunglasses that you found to be ultra chic, but, when you open the box and try those bad boys on, you realize you actually opened up a box of disappointment. Avoiding these issues is ultimately the goal, and I’m so excited to share this amazing sunglasses company that has truly revolutionized the art of shopping.

logo

Meet DITTO, the company that has made me and several others look at online shopping in a whole new way. DITTO and I partnered up to share with you their new online store, amazing try-at-home technology and a sweet giveaway! I had the chance to try out their site and all the fun that comes along with it and I want you guys to follow along! Keep reading for all the juicy details…

home page

When you first get to DITTO’s website, you can browse their vast collection of sunglasses or optical glasses for both men and women. You can also take their quiz that will assist in putting together a personal shop just for you based on your style and exactly what you are looking for. Just click the “Take the Quiz” button on the front page and you are ready to start!

Quiz.1

The first question in the quiz is pretty basic- are you looking for Men’s glasses or Women’s glasses?

Quiz.2

The next one is also pretty simple- are looking for optical glasses or sunglasses?

Quiz.3

Here’s the toughie- Do you know what you’re looking for? Actually, one may think that this is a tough question, but DITTO makes this process as easy as possible. I personally know what specific shades I like and want, so I chose “I know the specific look I want.”

Quiz.4 Quiz.5

The next question will ask what “look” you are going for. These looks are the different sunglass frames DITTO offers, so select the ones you like best for yourself!

Quiz.6 Quiz.7

The final step is to select the looks that suit your own personal style! If you do not see any that really resonate with you, just click the “see more” button in the upper right corner until you are happy with your selection! This step is going to help the stylists choose the perfect pairs of sunnies for your store.

Quiz.3

If you don’t know what exactly you are looking for, that’s okay too! Just select the “I don’t know the specific look I want.” option and be on your merry way.

Quiz_Clueless1 Quiz_Clueless2

To get an idea of what your style is, DITTO will ask you to pick out some items that resonate with you. For instance, if you like the way that varsity jacket looks, go ahead and select it!

Quiz_Clueless3

After choosing your items, the final question will be to choose the outfits that suit your style, the same question that appeared earlier for those who know the looks they’re aiming for.

Quiz.8

That’s the end of the quiz, but it’s not the end of the fun! You’ll be asked to have your measurements taken so that 1) your glasses are the perfect fit and (this is the best part… prepare to be mind blown) 2) you can virtually try on your sunglasses…AT HOME. Yes, you did read that correctly and it’s pretty phenomenal. If you’re not quite ready to take the photos and measurements, you can always go back later!

my ditto profile

Once you have followed the prompts you’ll be taken to your Ditto profile! This is what mine looks like right now; as you can see, my style has been evaluated and it shows me which styles suit my persona and face shape the best. On the right, my fit is shown too. My face width has been categorized as wide, so my recommended glasses will be for wider face widths. How perfect is that?

Happy Homecoming + Style Steal

Hello, my loves, guess who’s back? Yours truly, of course.

For those of you who thought I had slowly faded away from the fashion/ blogging scene, let it be known that I am still quite present and am always on the scene. The month of October was probably my busiest of the academic year thus far (granted that it’s only been three months) and TSC had to take the backseat. Don’t fret, darlings, I am back from my fashion blogger’s coma and going at full speed ahead, so get ready for a fun ride.

This past week was one of Homecoming celebrations- from the Homecomig Dance, to homecoming week, to game this past Friday, everyday had something fun in store. Of course I have to let you in on the part you are all dying to know about- what I wore to the dance! I’m really excited to show you guys because I’m really in love with the ensemble I put together. The best part- it’s a Style Steal!! So, without further ado, let’s get into it!

Dress: Teeze Me | Necklace and Earrings: Swarovski | Ring: Gifted | Shoes: Steve Madden

Before any of you smarty-pants out there start saying, “You’re wearing a pastel and that’s a spring/summer color! What kind of Fashion Guru are you!” Pipe down little ones, what I’m wearing actually isn’t light enough to be a pastel. This gorgeous ice blue dress with sheer lining, pleating, and tulle underlay made me feel like an absolute princess.

I love the positioning of the waistband that cinches my waist in and the way it meets the point of the triangular sheer material in the center of the dress’s bustier! Claps for Teeze Me, this design is very flattering! It’s a great combination of femininity and class, and then light, mod edge with the sky high strapped platforms from Mr. Madden. (:

Enjoy the absolutely necessary shoe picture and grand “Hoco Selfie” with me and these beautiful ladies. ❤

Now, do any of you know of a lady by the name of Lupita Nyong’o? Well this wonderful actress has quickly become a style icon and a particularly breathtaking blue Prada dress of hers has become quite iconic as well. If you know the breathtaking garment that I am referring to, then you know that Ms. Nyong’o and I are practically twins. Here comes the Style Steal!

IMG_2241[1]

Lupita’s dress is known far and wide as one of the most amazing to grace the red carpet. With a few modest differences, my dress easily parallels her own and can be viewed as Prada Jr. Lupita’s plunging neck line is mimicked in my own dress but my garment  has a sheer overlay covering my chest (Modest is hottest, ladies). The pleating, though more pronounced in my dress’s skirt, is quite similar to M. Nyong’o’s. Finally, because my dress is short, I opted for drop earrings rather than studs for a healthy and fashionable balance and matching drop-pendant necklace.

Homecoming this year was so much fun, and I couldn’t be happier with the way my look turned out. What did you wear to homecoming? Tell me in the comments below or tweet me pictures @StuddedCollar! As Homecoming season and October have come to a close (Happy November!), I am so happy to welcome the cool weather and the holiday season. I just know that this will be quite a fun, fabulous, and fashionable one. I’ve got some fun in store for you guys, and would love to hear your ideas for posts! Comment some ideas or tweet me, reach me on Facebook, Instagram, you know the drill… (: Well, let the holiday fun begin! Keep smiling, beauties. Until next time…

Flower Child

Good morning darlings, and Happy Tuesday!

IMG_9789

Top: Delia’s

Skirt: Forever 21

Belt: Cotton On

Sandals: Target

Bracelet: Nordstrom

Scrunchie: Forever 21

Yesterday I had a few errands to run and wanted a casual yet light and girly look. I opted for my new favorite floral skater skirt and a light scoop neck “Awkward” Tee. I tucked my top into my skirt and after looking in the mirror was happy with how it turned out.. but my outfit needed a kick.

IMG_9830

My skirt is a little high-waisted, and my waist is pretty small, so what better way to define and cinch in my waist than with an edgy belt? I love the gold studs on this belt. It adds some edge to an otherwise flirty-girly outfit (despite the immense amount of black.) The leather belt adds definition and a little something extra to the outfit.

IMG_9832 IMG_9831

Since I was on my feet quite a bit yesterday, I wanted to be comfortable so I wore my go-to black, strappy sandals. I have worn these so much this summer, I’m surprised I haven’t acquired a tan resembling the sandal straps yet!

IMG_9834

Because my outfit was predominantly black, I wanted to add some color without clashing with the flower colors. I chose this woven, blue, jeweled bracelet from Nordstrom. I really love the color of this bracelet and the simple gold, jeweled dome in the center. It’s simple and captivating.

IMG_9828 IMG_9827

If the floral skirt wasn’t enough, well say hello to my flower power scrunchie. Yes, scrunchies are back, and I wear them proudly. It was way too hot for me to wear my hear down (my hair is short, but it’s so dark and thick and it’s like wearing a woolly blanket on your head…) and I didn’t want to do anything elaborate to my hair, so I just braided my bangs straight back and held my ponytail with this scrunchie!IMG_9812

IMG_9866 IMG_9808

So you probably notice a lot of florals in my outfit, but you should know that floral prints are my favorite of all prints! They can translate into any season, and they can be styled in many different ways! Florals don’t always have to be girly, but you can definitely call me a somewhat girly Flower Child.

Until next time, sunshines,
