Spring Break: Day Makeup Look

Hi hi, loves, and happy Friday!

I am super excited about this article because it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. With Spring Break just around the corner, I thought I would come to you with a few fun articles just in time for every student’s week in the Spring.

Today, I’m coming to you guys with a Day to Night Makeup tutorial. It’s fairly easy, and it’s pretty versatile because you can have a nice day look that can easily be turned into a darker, more defined evening look without removing any of your makeup. You could also do each one individually and rock it however you like! Anyway, let’s get started with the day look. (:

1. First, we’re going to start with a fresh face. Make sure to wash your face so that your makeup goes on smoothly.

2. Next, I’m using my foundation to even out my skin. I mix these two foundations to match my skintone- I’m combining Covergirl TruBlend in the shade d6 and Covergirl Outlast 2 in 1 in the shade Honey Almond. You can use your fingers, a sponge, or a brush to blend in your foundation, depending on your preference.

3. Now, I’m using my Elf HD Lifting Concealer on my eyes to even out the color as well as prime my eyelids.

4. Now, I’m going to use my Kabuki brush to set my concealer and foundation with my matte powder by Covergirl in Honey Almond.DSC_0061foundation done2

5. Now let’s work on the eyes. I’m going to use this Rose Blush pink shadow all over my eyelid. It’ll brighten my eyes and, since it’s so bright, it will illuminate the other colors I use and make them appear more pigmented.DSC_0088 DSC_0100

6. Now, on the outer corners of the lid and the outer half of my under eyes, I’m going in with this warm Cocoa Brown shadowDSC_0113DSC_0122 DSC_0117

7. Now it’s time to put this lighter brown shade in the crease to define our eye shape.DSC_0127DSC_0119

8. Next, we’ll use a black pencil liner on the upper eyelid for definition. I’m using the shade Black Out by Ulta. After applying it to my top lid, I will smudge it a bit with a smudge brush to make the appearance thicker and smokier.DSC_0141 DSC_0152

9. This is one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine- filling in my eyebrows. Looking at the difference just makes me feel accomplished because a good eyebrow job equals a good day. (: This is the difference between my eyebrows when done and undone.DSC_0187

10. Now, it’s time to frame our eyes by applying mascara to our lashes. I’m using Colossal Volume by Maybelline for a separated, fanned out look.DSC_0202DSC_0203

11. After this, it’s time to put our highlight and bronzer on our cheekbones. I’m using Warm Bronzer by Elf, and I’m using the lighter shade on the left to highlight my cheekbones.DSC_0227

12. Now it’s time to add some color to our cheeks with a rosy blush. This is Dust Rose from Sephora.DSC_0324

13. Finally, we shall apply a tinted balm for a pop of color on the lips. I chose Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Pink Punch. I chose a tinted balm as opposed to a lip stick or lip gloss because it keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day, and the color lasts really well for several hours while on the go without looking to harsh. Perfect for a casual day look.

Here you have it- the final look! I love this makeup look because it perfectly defines all your features without going to overboard for a casual day. It’s pretty versatile, and the eye makeup looks good with any eye color because the colors used are pretty neutral.

If you wanted to define any parts of your makeup look more or less, then you’re able to do so and still look well put together. In fact, this makeup look can easily be transformed into an evening look without removing one swipe of makeup. You can even do the night makeup look on its own for an evening out! If you want to see the continuation of this evening makeup look, stay tuned on the blog for part two. (:

Thank you guys so much for checking out this tutorial. It’s my first one and there will plenty more to come! I hope you enjoyed it and, most of all, just have fun! Until next time…DSC_0269

Summertime Blues

Happy Saturday, everyone!

As promised, I have a new post today for you guys, and it’s the classic Outfit of the Day post. I just finished my first week of my junior year and, honestly, I loved it! The work load has increased, of course, but it was so great to catch up with my friends, meet all my new teachers, and jump right into all the fun the year has in store.

That work load I mentioned has me confined to my room doing homework in my oh, so fashionable Nike shorts and t-shirt, missing the days of summertime freedom. Although I’m loving the year so far, I am feeling a little blue about summer break being over. That said, here is a blue Outfit of the Day throwback to my last day of summer!

Top: Forever 21

Skirt: Macy’s

Bracelet: Charming Charlie

I love this bangle bracelet from Charming Charlie. The blue gems accented with gold wiring work beautifully together, and I love that I can wear this bracelet higher on my arm than the typical bracelet or bangle. It adds a simple, subtle, yet unique twist.

IMG_0581

I love this maxi skirt because it’s definitely different from your basic skirt. First, the blue lace overlay is gorgeous with pink and red flowers thrown into the mix. The floral lace with a unique color theme is feminine and fun. Secondly, the fact that the lace overlay is of a maxi cut while the skirt underneath is short so unique! It makes the skirt more casual and makes your legs appear longer as opposed to a solid colored, single-material maxi skirt.

From the front, this top is a basic cream tee with a little frocket. Then, you take a look at the back and it’s totally made of lace! As you can tell, I really like lace, and I love the variety in this outfit. Do note that it’s possible to have one print and vary its design in different pieces like I did here: I wore a lace skirt and lace backed top, but the laces are in slightly different patterns and colors. Both items still look put-together and simple! Depending on how you style patterns, you can wear any without it looking too busy. (:

I hope you are all enjoying your school year so far, and if you are on a holiday break, then I hope you are treasuring every moment! I may have the summer blues now, but I am honestly so excited for what’s to come this school year. (PS- Check out my last post to see how I prepared for the start of school!) Remember to keep those positive vibes and be the best you possible. (:

Aero Now VIP Launch Party

Hey everyone!  Aeropostale released their Aero Now line, and they are bigger, edgier, and better than ever. They say we’ve changed, so they’re changing too.

I had the amazing opportunity of attending Aeropostale’s VIP Launch Party as I was invited by Aeropostale!! *squeal* I know, I flipped out too! I met some really fun people, checked out their awesome new, edgy style, and got to talk to some people there!

The DJ’s tracks were on point through the whole event, and what’s better than good music and great shopping? *heart eyes*

IMG_9538

The store set-up was so cute and definitely matched the overall transformation- cool, edgy, fun, and inspired.

IMG_9534

I had the chance to talk to the event host, Mr. KB (we’re twins), and I asked him what three words he would use to describe the new Aero line.

“That’s a toughie!” he said, “I would say young, unique, and impactful.

I talked to three girls, Bella, Mariana, and Destiny, about the Aero Now launch, and here’s what they had to say!

Me: What do you like best about the Aero Now line?

Bella: Definitely the skirts.

Mariana: I love everything!

Destiny: I really love the shoes.

Me: What do you think is different about this line compared to the last one?

B: Definitely their style, I would say it’s edgier whereas the last one was more girly.

M: Yeah, I have to agree

D: I think the style is different, and it’s a lot more trendy now!IMG_9524IMG_9500

Everyone was raving about the new jewelry; I wanted to take every piece home!

What else was all the buzz at the Aero Now Launch Party? Bethany Mota’s new line, of course! 18-year-old Bethany Mota, or MacBarbie07 as she is known on YouTube, has released her new Fall collection as well as her first perfume just in time for the Back-To-School season. The YouTube star turned designer has impressed me yet again with her edgy yet feminine pieces.

IMG_9504 IMG_9502IMG_9508

One of my favorite ensembles from Bethany’s new line. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it!

I had an absolutely amazing experience at the VIP Launch Party, and I want to say a huge, huge thank you to Aeropostale for the invite. The new clothes are to die for and remind me that we are the Now Generation. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. (:

I also want to thank all of you guys for your immense love and support! I get emails, DM’s, tweets and more full of so much love and kindness and it means the world to me! Without you all, I wouldn’t be here doing what I love to do. (:

So, as a thank you, I have some gifts for you! From now to August 1, use the code “Her Campus” at the checkout for Aeropostale and you’ll receive 30% off of your purchase. This Isn’t Goodbye…

Hello lovely ladies, long time no blog…

Well, if you haven’t noticed from the cyber crickets chirping for the last couple of months, I haven’t been blogging recently. Believe me, I’ve had a lot to share and have missed The Studded Collar so much! However, I’ve been immensely busy and have several things I need to take care of…

I can’t make any promises as to when I’ll be back, or how often I’ll write for now, BUT I will be back- this is by no means GOODBYE! I plan to make The Studded Collar as successful as I can, but to do that I must start back up when I can devote a fair amount of time to you all and this blog. Keep following my Twitter and Instagram (@studdedcollar) and like my Facebook page, The Studded Collar, and I will do my best to remain active there.

I love you all and will be back very soon…

Stay Fab,
Gigi xx
