Spring Into It

Hey babes, and Happy Spring!

Sunday was the first day of Spring, my absolute favorite season. It’s a time for new beginnings, the turning of a new leaf, and everything is in full bloom. It’s absolutely beautiful and is a great, fresh start. You know what else has a fresh start? Fashion, of course. Everything is brighter, fresher, and there are so many more styles to explore.

With that, I’d like to share five of my favorite must-have items on my wishlist for the season from a store by same name, Spring. Spring is a fashion forward, online store for men, women, and children. It has items from all of your favorite companies and from cool, new brands that you are yet to discover. All the following items in my spring wishlist are from Spring’s accessories page. Click here to head over and see it all for yourself! A picture is worth a thousand words, so enough of this chit chat- let’s spring into it!

1. Sun’s Out Shades Out

Illesteva_Boca II Pink

Boca II in Pink by Illesteva

As the springtime comes, so does the sun! A pair of fun sunglasses are definitely a must-have this season, and I particularly love this pair by Illesteva. As you guys know, I am a sucker for a good pair of sunglasses, especially a funky set of frames. This pair caught my eye because of the gorgeous color. Pink is a color that compliments almost every skin tone, and this set is particularly on trend because it matches the color of the year, Rose Quartz.

2. About Time…

Daniel Wellington Classic sheffield rose gold watch 36 mm

Classic Sheffield Rose Gold Watch, 36mm by Daniel Wellington

This spring, I’ll be an even bigger advocate for arm candy. A great way to spice up your look without stacking just bracelets is adding a watch- stylish and functional. Daniel Wellington is a brand that I have loved for quite a while and is one that I seem to be seeing around more often as of late. The sleek, simple design is stunning, and is the perfect watch for any occasion. The best part is that the bands are interchangeable. This is what I love the most because DW has several gorgeous bands that can take your watch from simply sophisticated to vibrant and fun without having to change your entire watch itself. Talk about versatility!

3. Sharp Elegance

JOOMI LIM_Lost Innocence Spike Necklace with cream pearls..gold_silver spikes

Lost Innocence Spike Necklace with Cream Pearls by Joomi Lim

Chokers are a vintage trend that made a comeback last season, but this version of the trend takes this look to a whole new level. I think it’s pretty evident that I love studs and collared shirts given that the name of my blog combines the two details. Now, when you’re able to combine the two or bring them together in some way, you have won the style game in my book. That’s why I love this studded, pearl choker by Joomi Lim. It’s the perfect way to spice up a simple top or add an extra umph to a collared shirt.

3. Bag It Up

3.1 Phillip Lim_Pashli Medium Satchel- White-peach

Pashli Medium Satchel in White-Peach by 3.1 Phillip Lim

A purse is definitely a necessity this season, and I think that versatility should be found in anything you wear or use to accessorize your look. This shoulder bag also doubles as a crossbody with an extra long shoulder strap, which allows you to wear it however you choose. This white-peach color is fresh, bright, and airy and compliments both casual and dressy outfits. I love the symmetrical and geometric design of this purse as it adds some edge to an already soft and feminine bag. This purse, and others like it, will be high up on my list for sure.

5. Dawn Your Crown

Wren+Glory_Spike Halo

As most of you guys know (or don’t know), I’m a senior in high school. Sometimes, I have days that I wake up and feel super lazy, so I just brush my hair and leave it down, simply, or throw it up in a bun and rush out the door. This spring is a better time than any to spice up any simple hair look with a textured headband, halo, or simple crown such as these by Wren + Glory. I love the elegant yet fun look of these headbands and the various styles that can be made with them.

Well, that’s my Spring Wishlist of must-haves for you guys! I hope you all liked it, and let me know in the poll below which item was your favorite. Also, feel free to share in the comments below what items are on your Spring wishlist either from the store, Spring, for this season, or both! Go on and check out Spring’s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest for more spring inspiration. Thanks so much for reading, and I’ll chat with you guys soon. Until next time…

Spring Break: Day Makeup Look

Hi hi, loves, and happy Friday!

I am super excited about this article because it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. With Spring Break just around the corner, I thought I would come to you with a few fun articles just in time for every student’s week in the Spring.

Today, I’m coming to you guys with a Day to Night Makeup tutorial. It’s fairly easy, and it’s pretty versatile because you can have a nice day look that can easily be turned into a darker, more defined evening look without removing any of your makeup. You could also do each one individually and rock it however you like! Anyway, let’s get started with the day look. (:

1. First, we’re going to start with a fresh face. Make sure to wash your face so that your makeup goes on smoothly.

bare face

2. Next, I’m using my foundation to even out my skin. I mix these two foundations to match my skintone- I’m combining Covergirl TruBlend in the shade d6 and Covergirl Outlast 2 in 1 in the shade Honey Almond. You can use your fingers, a sponge, or a brush to blend in your foundation, depending on your preference.

DSC_0037step1.1 step 2.2

3. Now, I’m using my Elf HD Lifting Concealer on my eyes to even out the color as well as prime my eyelids.

DSC_0075DSC_0077

4. Now, I’m going to use my Kabuki brush to set my concealer and foundation with my matte powder by Covergirl in Honey Almond.DSC_0061foundation done2

5. Now let’s work on the eyes. I’m going to use this Rose Blush pink shadow all over my eyelid. It’ll brighten my eyes and, since it’s so bright, it will illuminate the other colors I use and make them appear more pigmented.DSC_0088 DSC_0100

6. Now, on the outer corners of the lid and the outer half of my under eyes, I’m going in with this warm Cocoa Brown shadowDSC_0113DSC_0122 DSC_0117

7. Now it’s time to put this lighter brown shade in the crease to define our eye shape.DSC_0127DSC_0119

8. Next, we’ll use a black pencil liner on the upper eyelid for definition. I’m using the shade Black Out by Ulta. After applying it to my top lid, I will smudge it a bit with a smudge brush to make the appearance thicker and smokier.DSC_0141 DSC_0152

9. This is one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine- filling in my eyebrows. Looking at the difference just makes me feel accomplished because a good eyebrow job equals a good day. (: This is the difference between my eyebrows when done and undone.DSC_0187

10. Now, it’s time to frame our eyes by applying mascara to our lashes. I’m using Colossal Volume by Maybelline for a separated, fanned out look.DSC_0202DSC_0203

11. After this, it’s time to put our highlight and bronzer on our cheekbones. I’m using Warm Bronzer by Elf, and I’m using the lighter shade on the left to highlight my cheekbones.DSC_0227

12. Now it’s time to add some color to our cheeks with a rosy blush. This is Dust Rose from Sephora.DSC_0324

13. Finally, we shall apply a tinted balm for a pop of color on the lips. I chose Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Pink Punch. I chose a tinted balm as opposed to a lip stick or lip gloss because it keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day, and the color lasts really well for several hours while on the go without looking to harsh. Perfect for a casual day look.
kayb

Here you have it- the final look! I love this makeup look because it perfectly defines all your features without going to overboard for a casual day. It’s pretty versatile, and the eye makeup looks good with any eye color because the colors used are pretty neutral.

DSC_0255 DSC_0250
If you wanted to define any parts of your makeup look more or less, then you’re able to do so and still look well put together. In fact, this makeup look can easily be transformed into an evening look without removing one swipe of makeup. You can even do the night makeup look on its own for an evening out! If you want to see the continuation of this evening makeup look, stay tuned on the blog for part two. (:

Thank you guys so much for checking out this tutorial. It’s my first one and there will plenty more to come! I hope you enjoyed it and, most of all, just have fun! Until next time…DSC_0269

NYFW 2016: Strutting the Streets

Hi there, lovies!

Yes, I’m back. For those of you who thought that I had died or changed my name and moved to Switzerland, you were very wrong and I’m definitely not in Switzerland. I know I haven’t been on my A-game but I have returned and boy do I have plans for you all this year. So, to catch up on everything that I’ve missed… Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Valentine’s Day. Now, let’s get to work. (:

With the month of February comes the start of Fashion Week season for 2016’s Fall/Winter collections. This past Thursday, New York Fashion Week came to a close and the shows were magnificent. Of course, all the talk surrounding Fashion Week focuses on what’s being displayed on stage, but what about the art that’s being shared off stage?

Think back to Kindergarten art class. You walked into class ready to create the next masterpiece that expresses your young and unique individuality, and you would have it shown in the best museum on earth (your parents’ office or the kitchen fridge.) Each student had their own style of artistry and it was a hodgepodge of greatness. This is basically what street style during fashion week is like. Everyone puts together their unique artistry and shows it off proudly. It’s nothing like you’ve ever seen before and definitely one of my favorite parts of fashion week. Let’s take a look at some of the best, most individual, and one of a kind looks from one of the best runways in the world: the streets of New York.

Captivating Coats

wowza coat3 wowza coat2 wowza coat_rainbow wowza coat

These coats are proof that you don’t have to conceal your fashionable artistry in the cold. Each makes a statement and immediately captures your attention. I particularly love the colorful, fun fur coats. They’re a great way to spice up a monochrome outfit while staying cozy in the winter weather.

woMENS-wear

woMENSwear2 woMENSwear

You know what they say- anything men can do, women can do better (most often in heels, too.) These feminine takes on men’s wear are incredibly flattering and elegant. The cream ensemble shows the formal side of feminized men’s wear with a slimming, cuffed pant and a cream blazer with inverted lapels. The other outfit displays more of a comfortable, business casual, yet chic alternative. The boyfriend fit, pinstriped blazer beautifully compliments the dark ensemble as well as the horizontally striped blouse.

Rocking Rainbows

wowza bag rainbow rainbow2 rainbow4

I simply love these looks and accessories because they brighten up the streets beautifully. Yes, some of the outfits have different colors in various pieces, and yes, some have chosen to wear one bright color according to the color of their hair, but it works! The trick? One item has the color focus. For instance, in this last photo, the dress has the color focus because it is the largest piece and is predominantly white and sky blue. The other pieces are simply ornaments on this fashion tree and they all marry with the color scheme.

Playful Patterns

patterns rainbow3 rainbow5

These patterns are a great way to ease into a bold style and they don’t draw too much attention away from the outfit as a whole or, more importantly, you! The key is to put your pattern focus on one item and let the other clothing articles work with your patterned clothing of choice. Above all, have fun with it!

Terrific Textures

textures2 textures

Textures area perfect way to liven up any outfit. They immediately add dimension, depth, and edge to any outfit and turns your ensemble around entirely. I love this netted, black skirt paired with a black and white, houndstooth sweater with fur trim. Though there are several textures and patterns, it’s not too busy and still looks incredibly put together. This is because there is one color scheme and the shapes and textures are all geometric.

Ladies in Color

lady in red lady in pink lady in black emerald queenlady in white

These looks are so sleek and I love that one color is the focus in these looks. It’s simple, yet each outfit has a different design that takes a solid color to a whole new level. Some people fear monochrome outfits because they may tend to look boring and one-dimensional. These are some solid examples that disprove this idea. Yes, it’s possible to look like a sheet of construction paper, but if you choose one color and piece together different items that have their own edge, you will come together with an edgy look, classy vibe, or whatever you please.

Whenever Fashion Weeks come around, we love to fawn over the designs that grace the runways, but the streets are a runway of their own. I love that there are weeks dedicated to the art of fashion and that everyone is so fearlessly themselves. I hope you all enjoyed these looks, and let me know which style was your favorite! I love the textures and monochrome maybe I’ll try to combine the two soon. (: I’ll be writing again soon, so don’t stray too far, my darlings!

Paris for a Day: Camille Albane Salon Grand Opening

*Opens hypothetical door leading to a feathery pink room that is the blogging chamber of my brain*

*In a sing-song voice* Guess who’s baaaack!

Yes, you must be thinking to yourself as you stare at your computer screen, “This seems to be a recurring thing- disappearing and reappearing and continuing to do so in a viciously stylish cycle. We miss you!!!” Never fear, my loves, Kay B is here, and here to stay. I have some fun new posts and projects coming up and I do not want to miss a beat! Summer is finally here, and as the seasons have begun a fresh start, I have to. Enough chit-chat: Let’s start our fresh start together.

On Wednesday, DFW Style Daily hosted a party for the Grand Opening of Camille Albane, a renowned Parisian Salon that has now opened their first location in Texas. I had the chance to attend the petite fête and learn more about this stellar salon!

imageimage image

Let me offer you a little bit of background information. Camille Albane, as I mentioned before, is a well known Parisian salon that began in France in 1994 and has now not only established itself as one of the most popular franchised hair salons in Europe, but also extended its influential reach to other countries, including the U.S. This salon is unlike any other, and is quite a trend-setting organization.

Does the term balayage? sound familiar to you? If it does, then you have Camille Albane Salons to thank- the Dessange Paris chain that owns Camille Albane created the balayage trend in the early 1970s, and the hair coloring technique was grown and perfected in the Camille studios. For those of you currently scratching your heads, Balayage is a technique that offers a more natural and sun-kissed version of the popular ombre look. It’s one of the top “in” hair trend of the summer, and Camille Albane is the salon that popularized it.

Balayage-Hair-Blonde-Brown

An example of warm brown to blonde balayage

Boasting 300 locations in 11 countries, Camille Albane has graced Texas with its very first salon by the franchise. DFW Style Daily’s leading ladies, Leah Frazier, Amber LaFrance, and Lisa Petty, hosted a fabulous soiree that included a giveaway, massages, a braid bar, and a makeup station.

image

Fun Fact: Every item in the salon, including the furniture, was imported from France! The employees of the new Texas location were even trained by Camille Albane professionals who were flown in from France!

image

My friend, Rachel, and I smiling into some French-imported mirrors. (:

Camille Albane offers several services and products, but the most interesting one, in my opinion, is their Natural Pigma shampoo.

image image

The Natural Pigma Shampoo is unlike anything I have ever seen before. What this shampoo does is it temporarily colors your hair or revives the warmth and tones in your hair. Yes, you read that correctly, this shampoo can temporarily color your hair! There is a base for the shampoo that actually cleans your hair, then, with the help of a specialist at the Camille Albane salon, you can choose any combination of hair colors from the 11 options to be added to your shampoo. These colors can be customized to give you a new, brighter, or cooler color, to maintain the color of already dyed hair, or even to simply liven the color of your hair and make it more dimensional! The combination possibilities are endless, and you will be sure to get a color that is made just for you!

image

The best part is that this shampoo gives you color without the commitment. When you use the shampoo, it is best to leave it in your hair for 7-10 minutes for the best, most noticeable results. However, if you end up not liking the color you ended up with, just lather your hair up with your normal shampoo the next time you wash your hair, and that will wash the color right out!

Rachel got a bottle of her customized Natural Pigma shampoo to brighten up her brunette locks.

I got to meet one of my readers (this lovely lady) at the party, too. She came up to me and said hi, she was such a sweetheart! If any of you see me out and about, please always feel free to come up and say hello. I don’t know what I would do without your support, and I love you guys! ❤

image It was so fun to reunite with the ever so bright Valery Brennan and to meet sweet Sevi. Both of these ladies are bloggers too, so be sure to show them some love and visit their blogs!

image

Ms. Frazier and I met again and posed for a picture to show just how much we la-la-love DFW Style Daily. (:

The Grand Opening of Camille Albane was so much fun, and I loved getting to reunite with friends and meet some new faces. Shoutout to my friend, Rachel, for attending the event with me! (:

I have so much in store for you all, and I can not wait to share it all with you guys! If you have any suggestions for articles you want to see from me, just comment down below or tweet me your ideas. Don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram and Twitter to keep up with me when I’m not uploading on to the blog as well! I love you guys oodles and oodles, and until next time…

Sweet Valentine: Daytime Look

Hello, hello, hello my darlings, and Happy New Year!! I apologize for being unable to ring in the new year with you all and for the low supply of new posts, but you know well enough that I am never far from you and return as quickly as possible. (: I hope that 2014 holds fond memories for you all and that new ventures, lessons and sweet times lie ahead in 2015.

Welcome to my first post of 2015! (cue the confetti) With the first major holiday of the year already a month behind us, we have Valentine’s Day to look forward to. Yes, even if you do not have a significant other you can still expect to have fun on V-Day! Whether you will be spending the day with your lovie or taking on the town with your best girl friends, you can still look killer while doing it.

IMG_4642[1]

Dress: H&M | Shoes: Steve Madden | Jewelry: Charming Charlie | Nail Polish: Maybelline ColorShow

Valentine’s Day dawns the most pink, red and white than any other day of the year, but you do not necessarily need to put together an outfit that makes you look like you covered yourself in glue and frolicked through Hallmark’s Valentine’s Day isle. I’ve put together a daytime look that is perfect to wear while with your girls or your boyf and it includes the festive colors in a more wearable fashion. (:

IMG_4648 IMG_4649

Note that my dress is not all red, white, or pink, but within the pattern, pink is the predominant color. I accented my look with neutral-toned, gemed jewelry to add a touch of formality. The look is sweet, feminine, and is perfect for a fun day with your special loves.

IMG_4654

Believe it or not, this is my first bubble skirt purchase (a bubble skirt is one that comes out at the dress’s waist line and has a rounded figure), and I really like it! I appreciate the placement of the waistline- dresses that have their wait’s seam at your natural waist are some of the most flattering as opposed to an empire wait that makes your torso, at times, appear smaller and your mid-section wider (depending on your body type).

IMG_4655 IMG_4656 IMG_4657 IMG_4658

When wearing a dress as busy as this, it’s best to choose a solid colored shoe. That’s not to say that the shoe itself can’t make it’s own statement. These suede, ankle-strap, open toed platforms from Steve Madden are simple in their neutral tone, but don’t fail to stand out with its thick straps and heel.

IMG_4660 IMG_4659 IMG_4668 IMG_4669IMG_4653

I opted for a soft, romantic look since this is a daytime outfit. I love how the muted fuchsia lip pops but doesn’t appear harsh with the other softened makeup features. A light rosy blush and a soft smoky eye married beautifully with this ensemble. Like this post and comment below if you want to see this make-up tutorial!

IMG_4664 IMG_4662 IMG_4661

Just some candids of me being… well, me. (:

Well, my darlings, that’s all I have for you today! I hope this inspired you somehow and that you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed putting this together for you. Remember that regardless of whether or not you have a Valentine, you should show some extra love to others- it’s what keeps our world moving after all!

Back to School Haul!

Hello, friends!

It’s that time of year again… that time that gives us a mixed stew of feelings. You guessed it, folks-

Back. To. School.

But hey, let’s not think of it as the end, but rather, the beginning of an exciting new season! With this exciting new season comes new school supplies, and I am excited to share with you my Back to School Haul!

IMG_0553

For those of you who don’t know, I attend a school that requires us to wear uniforms, so I doubt you want to see the slew of Uber-cute plaid skirts and button downs I bought. Instead, I’ll be showing you some cute supplies I bought to be 100% ready for the new year!

IMG_0554

First, I bought this bright pink backpack by JanSport from Academy. I have the same one in a light blue color, but I wanted another one for different days in the week because I have different classes every other day. I really love this color- it’s so fun and pink is my absolute favorite color- and JanSport backpacks are so durable and I can trust it to last throughout the entire year and hold all my books unfailingly (and I have a LOT).

IMG_0560

Next, I have these two 1.5″ binders: One for A day and one for B day. I bought these babies from Target, and as soon as I laid eyes on them, I had to have them. Not only are they designed beautifully, but they are also incredibly durable, which is a winning combination in my book! These solid binders will definitely hold all my folders and papers while I remain stylishly organized. (:

IMG_0566

Also from Target are these super cute notebooks by Five Star. I have always bought Five Star notebooks, but in solid colors. My dad actually pointed the patterned books out to me, and I decided to switch up my selection this year. There were so many fun pattern options and I selected these nine for my nine classes.

IMG_0567

These three notebooks are my favorite ones. Which notebooks do you like best? Tell me in the comments below!

IMG_0564

I stopped by Barnes and Noble and picked up a few books. These are required for my English class, but they’re all so good, so I thought I’d share them with you all too!

I bought “The Great Gatsby,” “The House on Mango Street,” “A Raisin in the Sun,” “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” and The Crucible.

IMG_0565

Tell me below if you’ve read any of these books, which of these you like best, or any great book suggestions you may have!

IMG_0561

This was probably one of my favorite Back To School purchases- a journal by Tricoastal Designs. They have some really cute journals in various designs that I recommend you take a look at! I take French and am a huge fashion lover ((obviously)), so when I saw this journal, I thought it to be a match destined by God. Honestly though, there’s even a quote I love by the lovely Audrey Hepburn on the front and back, “Some people dream of having a big swimming pool. With me, it’s closets.” ❤

IMG_0563

I am super excited about this purchase for school. It’s totally original and I honestly think I’ll stand out in the classroom with these supplies. I’m so psyched to share that I bought some awesome graph paper AND… wait for it… college-ruled notebook paper. The color really pops, but the simplicity is so chic! I’m really trying to contain my excitement, but I cannot wait to flaunt this at school.

IMG_0571

I bought some sticker labels to label my notebooks, binders, books, etc. I also bought reinforcement labels to strengthen my folders, flashcards for studying, and colored sticker flags for organization. Exciting stuff, I know.

IMG_0570

Finally, I bought some writing and coloring utensils! You can’t start school without them, but you can definitely finish the year with about two. (I know this happens to all of us, let’s be real…) I got some basic black and red pens– I hate blue pens, so I never buy them, ha! – Some number 2 pencils, a pencil sharpener, some highlighters, Crayola markers (because I am a kindergartener), and gold Sharpies. I have all the basic Sharpie colors, but not the metallic gold, so I just had to buy them! Plus, they show up better on darker surfaces, which is super helpful.

That is it for my Back to School Haul! I hope you enjoyed seeing what I bought for the new school year and that if you’re still prepping to resume school, then it gave you some ideas of what to get. I really like all the items I bought, I think they are so cute and portray my style really well- that’s something I love because I wear a uniform. I wish you all a great school year no matter what grade you are starting and keep those positive vibes flowing- you’ll be unstoppable!

P.S- I actually start school tomorrow, so that means you can start looking out for a new post from me every Saturday! I’ll do my very best to post then, and I may do some random posts so keep checking in! I love you all and let’s have a great new school year! ❤

Stay Fab,

Kay B xx

Flower Child

Good morning darlings, and Happy Tuesday!

IMG_9789

Top: Delia’s

Skirt: Forever 21

Belt: Cotton On

Sandals: Target

Bracelet: Nordstrom

Scrunchie: Forever 21

Yesterday I had a few errands to run and wanted a casual yet light and girly look. I opted for my new favorite floral skater skirt and a light scoop neck “Awkward” Tee. I tucked my top into my skirt and after looking in the mirror was happy with how it turned out.. but my outfit needed a kick.

IMG_9830

My skirt is a little high-waisted, and my waist is pretty small, so what better way to define and cinch in my waist than with an edgy belt? I love the gold studs on this belt. It adds some edge to an otherwise flirty-girly outfit (despite the immense amount of black.) The leather belt adds definition and a little something extra to the outfit.

IMG_9832 IMG_9831

Since I was on my feet quite a bit yesterday, I wanted to be comfortable so I wore my go-to black, strappy sandals. I have worn these so much this summer, I’m surprised I haven’t acquired a tan resembling the sandal straps yet!

IMG_9834

Because my outfit was predominantly black, I wanted to add some color without clashing with the flower colors. I chose this woven, blue, jeweled bracelet from Nordstrom. I really love the color of this bracelet and the simple gold, jeweled dome in the center. It’s simple and captivating.

IMG_9828 IMG_9827

If the floral skirt wasn’t enough, well say hello to my flower power scrunchie. Yes, scrunchies are back, and I wear them proudly. It was way too hot for me to wear my hear down (my hair is short, but it’s so dark and thick and it’s like wearing a woolly blanket on your head…) and I didn’t want to do anything elaborate to my hair, so I just braided my bangs straight back and held my ponytail with this scrunchie!IMG_9812

IMG_9866 IMG_9808

So you probably notice a lot of florals in my outfit, but you should know that floral prints are my favorite of all prints! They can translate into any season, and they can be styled in many different ways! Florals don’t always have to be girly, but you can definitely call me a somewhat girly Flower Child.

IMG_9810

Until next time, sunshines,
