STRUT into Spring Break + Giveaway!!

Happy Studded Collar Sunday, friends!

I hope you all had a lovely, restful weekend, and are ready to take on the new week. If you guys are in the same position as me, then this is your last week until Spring Break- a week every student is eagerly looking forward to, I’m sure. Now, ladies, whether you gals are getting ready for an exotic vacation or a fun-filled staycation, you’re all probably planning your outfits and hoping to look your best (vacations and breaks equals pictures galore).

So, I partnered up with Strut to bring you guys a fun lookbook of stellar looks that you can look to for inspiration as you plan out what you’ll be wearing this Spring Break season. These three outfits are perfect for the spring season and range from casual to dressy. I think that’s enough chit-chat, so let’s spring into it! (:

Cool & Casual

image

I absolutely love this simple, grey, jersey dress. I know spring is usually all about color, especially pastels, but the neutral color truly makes this dress the perfect blank canvas with so many styling possibilities. Because of it’s simplicity, I opted for a gold, multi-layered necklace so as to add a little edge and umph to the neckline.

image

Okay, my favorite part of the dress is the oversized, wide arm holes. It’s the perfect opportunity to show a little bit of detail while maintaining a classy look. I decided to wear a triangular, black lace bralette under the dress, and result was fabulous. I love, love, love the lacy detail peeking though, adding a darker color to the look and some lace for femininity.

imageimage image image image image

I don’t know about you, but I am quite the fan of this brown, fringe crossbody purse. It’s simple, but adds dimension to this simple outfit with the large, flowy tassels. It’s such a cute accessory, and it’s perfect for a casual, on the go outfit.

Edgy Boho Babe

image image

This outfit is a bit dressier than the first but still airs on the casual side. All the while, it’s nice enough to wear out to a nice lunch with the girls or just a fun day out on the town. This romper is another neutral, yes, but the floral pattern ties in the newness of spring perfectly.

image image image image image image

One of my favorite parts of this outfits is the balance of softness and edge. The romper is floral, feminine, and flowy, and my pointed toed flats are soft, simple and muted black. Plus, my cream, lace bandeau peaking through makes this outfit even flirtier. On the other hand, my major statement necklace is sharp and eye catching with the geometric shapes, and the black, circular, wide rimmed hat adds some attitude. I’m also obsessed with the tortoise patterned wayfarers. Yes, I’m wearing a hat and sunglasses, but you can’t be too protected, right?

image image image image image image image

All I have to say about this purse is that it is to die for. Take it from day to night in a heartbeat, and the gold hardware is precious. Versatile and lovely.

image image image

All Dressed Up

image image image image image

This is, without a doubt, my favorite outfit in this lookbook. If you guys must know one thing about me, it’s that I’m a sucker for dresses and florals. Needless to say, this little number stole my heart in a flash. It’s very flowy, so opportunity for flattery is very present. The hemline is ever so slightly high-low, with makes the dress a bit more dramatic. I dressed it up with some black, strappy wedges and a soft gold clutch and was ready to hit the streets.image image image image image

Ok, I am head over heels, madly in love with these sunnies. They’re silver and reflective, but my favorite part is the fact that it’s round with a cat eye frame all at once. The wire on the edge of the frames is so edgy, and I love, love love it.

image image image

Pro-tip: If you guys are looking for some comfortable, black, strappy AND edgy wedges/heels, then go buy a pair from Strut. They have the best shoes that are both gorgeous and comfy. Beauty isn’t always pain, ladies!

image

Because of the keyhole design on the front of this dress, I chose a long statement necklace so as not to distract from the pattern and gorgeous cutout. I also chose a complimentary gold clutch to match.

image image image image

I hope you guys enjoyed this little Spring Break lookbook Strut and I put together for you guys! I had so much fun, and a big thanks to Strut for having some fun with me. I do have a little surprise for you guys, too.

Paris for a Day: Camille Albane Salon Grand Opening

*Opens hypothetical door leading to a feathery pink room that is the blogging chamber of my brain*

*In a sing-song voice* Guess who’s baaaack!

Yes, you must be thinking to yourself as you stare at your computer screen, “This seems to be a recurring thing- disappearing and reappearing and continuing to do so in a viciously stylish cycle. We miss you!!!” Never fear, my loves, Kay B is here, and here to stay. I have some fun new posts and projects coming up and I do not want to miss a beat! Summer is finally here, and as the seasons have begun a fresh start, I have to. Enough chit-chat: Let’s start our fresh start together.

On Wednesday, DFW Style Daily hosted a party for the Grand Opening of Camille Albane, a renowned Parisian Salon that has now opened their first location in Texas. I had the chance to attend the petite fête and learn more about this stellar salon!

imageimage image

Let me offer you a little bit of background information. Camille Albane, as I mentioned before, is a well known Parisian salon that began in France in 1994 and has now not only established itself as one of the most popular franchised hair salons in Europe, but also extended its influential reach to other countries, including the U.S. This salon is unlike any other, and is quite a trend-setting organization.

Does the term balayage? sound familiar to you? If it does, then you have Camille Albane Salons to thank- the Dessange Paris chain that owns Camille Albane created the balayage trend in the early 1970s, and the hair coloring technique was grown and perfected in the Camille studios. For those of you currently scratching your heads, Balayage is a technique that offers a more natural and sun-kissed version of the popular ombre look. It’s one of the top “in” hair trend of the summer, and Camille Albane is the salon that popularized it.

An example of warm brown to blonde balayage

Boasting 300 locations in 11 countries, Camille Albane has graced Texas with its very first salon by the franchise. DFW Style Daily’s leading ladies, Leah Frazier, Amber LaFrance, and Lisa Petty, hosted a fabulous soiree that included a giveaway, massages, a braid bar, and a makeup station.

image

Fun Fact: Every item in the salon, including the furniture, was imported from France! The employees of the new Texas location were even trained by Camille Albane professionals who were flown in from France!

image

My friend, Rachel, and I smiling into some French-imported mirrors. (:

Camille Albane offers several services and products, but the most interesting one, in my opinion, is their Natural Pigma shampoo.

image image

The Natural Pigma Shampoo is unlike anything I have ever seen before. What this shampoo does is it temporarily colors your hair or revives the warmth and tones in your hair. Yes, you read that correctly, this shampoo can temporarily color your hair! There is a base for the shampoo that actually cleans your hair, then, with the help of a specialist at the Camille Albane salon, you can choose any combination of hair colors from the 11 options to be added to your shampoo. These colors can be customized to give you a new, brighter, or cooler color, to maintain the color of already dyed hair, or even to simply liven the color of your hair and make it more dimensional! The combination possibilities are endless, and you will be sure to get a color that is made just for you!

image

The best part is that this shampoo gives you color without the commitment. When you use the shampoo, it is best to leave it in your hair for 7-10 minutes for the best, most noticeable results. However, if you end up not liking the color you ended up with, just lather your hair up with your normal shampoo the next time you wash your hair, and that will wash the color right out!

Rachel got a bottle of her customized Natural Pigma shampoo to brighten up her brunette locks.

I got to meet one of my readers (this lovely lady) at the party, too. She came up to me and said hi, she was such a sweetheart! If any of you see me out and about, please always feel free to come up and say hello. I don’t know what I would do without your support, and I love you guys! ❤

image It was so fun to reunite with the ever so bright Valery Brennan and to meet sweet Sevi. Both of these ladies are bloggers too, so be sure to show them some love and visit their blogs!

image

Ms. Frazier and I met again and posed for a picture to show just how much we la-la-love DFW Style Daily. (:

The Grand Opening of Camille Albane was so much fun, and I loved getting to reunite with friends and meet some new faces. Shoutout to my friend, Rachel, for attending the event with me! (:

I have so much in store for you all, and I can not wait to share it all with you guys! If you have any suggestions for articles you want to see from me, just comment down below or tweet me your ideas. Don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram and Twitter to keep up with me when I’m not uploading on to the blog as well! I love you guys oodles and oodles, and until next time…

Happy Homecoming + Style Steal

Hello, my loves, guess who’s back? Yours truly, of course.

For those of you who thought I had slowly faded away from the fashion/ blogging scene, let it be known that I am still quite present and am always on the scene. The month of October was probably my busiest of the academic year thus far (granted that it’s only been three months) and TSC had to take the backseat. Don’t fret, darlings, I am back from my fashion blogger’s coma and going at full speed ahead, so get ready for a fun ride.

This past week was one of Homecoming celebrations- from the Homecomig Dance, to homecoming week, to game this past Friday, everyday had something fun in store. Of course I have to let you in on the part you are all dying to know about- what I wore to the dance! I’m really excited to show you guys because I’m really in love with the ensemble I put together. The best part- it’s a Style Steal!! So, without further ado, let’s get into it!

IMG_2338[1] IMG_2202[1]IMG_2203[1]

Dress: Teeze Me | Necklace and Earrings: Swarovski | Ring: Gifted | Shoes: Steve Madden

Before any of you smarty-pants out there start saying, “You’re wearing a pastel and that’s a spring/summer color! What kind of Fashion Guru are you!” Pipe down little ones, what I’m wearing actually isn’t light enough to be a pastel. This gorgeous ice blue dress with sheer lining, pleating, and tulle underlay made me feel like an absolute princess.

I love the positioning of the waistband that cinches my waist in and the way it meets the point of the triangular sheer material in the center of the dress’s bustier! Claps for Teeze Me, this design is very flattering! It’s a great combination of femininity and class, and then light, mod edge with the sky high strapped platforms from Mr. Madden. (:

Enjoy the absolutely necessary shoe picture and grand “Hoco Selfie” with me and these beautiful ladies. ❤

Now, do any of you know of a lady by the name of Lupita Nyong’o? Well this wonderful actress has quickly become a style icon and a particularly breathtaking blue Prada dress of hers has become quite iconic as well. If you know the breathtaking garment that I am referring to, then you know that Ms. Nyong’o and I are practically twins. Here comes the Style Steal!

IMG_2241[1]

Lupita’s dress is known far and wide as one of the most amazing to grace the red carpet. With a few modest differences, my dress easily parallels her own and can be viewed as Prada Jr. Lupita’s plunging neck line is mimicked in my own dress but my garment  has a sheer overlay covering my chest (Modest is hottest, ladies). The pleating, though more pronounced in my dress’s skirt, is quite similar to M. Nyong’o’s. Finally, because my dress is short, I opted for drop earrings rather than studs for a healthy and fashionable balance and matching drop-pendant necklace.

Homecoming this year was so much fun, and I couldn’t be happier with the way my look turned out. What did you wear to homecoming? Tell me in the comments below or tweet me pictures @StuddedCollar! As Homecoming season and October have come to a close (Happy November!), I am so happy to welcome the cool weather and the holiday season. I just know that this will be quite a fun, fabulous, and fashionable one. I’ve got some fun in store for you guys, and would love to hear your ideas for posts! Comment some ideas or tweet me, reach me on Facebook, Instagram, you know the drill… (: Well, let the holiday fun begin! Keep smiling, beauties. Until next time…

Little Black Dress Designer Fashion Show

Hello, sweet friends, Happy Studded Collar Sunday!

I’d like to start off with a few announcements and thank-yous as well (Have to have an attitude for gratitude!)

First, thank you all so incredibly much for your kind feedback and the love you sent me about the Tootsies Homecoming Lookbook! I had so much fun putting it together for you all, and for your reaction to be so immensely positive was overwhelming. Plus, several of you guys sent me tweets and messages saying it helped you compose a fabulous ensemble for your next dance! I love you all so much and I’m overjoyed that you all enjoyed the post. I’ll do more projects like this in the future for you. (:

I would also send another big thank you to Tootsies for the opportunity to work with you all! I felt like a princess and the dresses, suits, accessories and more were gorgeous. It was such a fun experience and I am eternally grateful for it.

Now, I have one quick announcement before we dive right into the post. I have a new Instagram and Twitter! I’m switching over to an account I already have set up. My new Instagram is @16kayb, and my username for Twitter is also @16KayB. Go follow those accounts if you haven’t already, and in a couple of days I will change the usernames from @16kayb to @studdedcollar for consistency. I’m really active on my social media links, so go check them out. Now, let’s get started with all the fun!

Show1 Show2

Dress: Pimkie | Shoes: Guess | Necklace: Swarovski | Clutch: Mom’s Closet

Bracelet/Ring: Charming Charlie| Earings: Gifted

You all may or may not know that the past two weeks have been occupied by Fashion Week in the world’s various capitals- first New York, then London, and today Milan’s came to a close. While I was unable to attend New York Fashion Week this year, I had the chance to have some local Fashion Week fun! I attended the Little Black Dress Designer Fashion Show and Party at Tootsies earlier this week. Several of Dallas’s fashion elite attended, and I had an amazing time meeting them and enjoing the show!

Show5 Show9 Show10

Such an honor to meet designer Esé (left) and one of Dallas’s fashion elite, Christine (right)

The fashion show was hosted by Tootsies for the Little Black Dress Designer Foundation. This organization gives students and up-and-coming designers the opportunity to re-invent the classic Little Black Dress to potentially win an academic scholarship, funding for their brand, and career networking opportunities to kickstart their career. It’s an amazing association that has already awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to students since it was founded by Jeff Shell n 2008. Tell me this isn’t an amazing concept? (Seriously don’t, because you’d be dead wrong.) (:

Show6IMG_1074

Had an amazing time attending the show with my beautiful best friend (:

I opted for a black dress because not only was it the theme of the show, but the little black dress is a classic statement. This gorgeous dress has a classic simplicity and became my canvas for the evening. I love that the underlay of the dress is like a bandage, or body-con, dress, while the overlay is a flowy, flirty, sheer material that gives the dress a higher level of formality and grace.

I feel like when girls wear black they always have a pop of loud color(s). That is totally okay (in moderation), but another option is to add color variety through metallics! I wore this gorgeous silver diamond drop necklace from Swawrovski, diamond studs, and then switched it up with gold Guess shoes and an all black clutch with divine gold and diamond detailing. My ring and bracelet had golden and jewel accents as well. It takes a plain black dress from drab to fab without wearing a fluorescent pink belt or crimson blue pumps. (:

Show18 Show19 Show17

I had an unbelievably wonderful time at the show, and I thank Tootsies immensely. The show was beautiful and the dresses were to die for. Now, ladies, I want you to remember this quote- it’s golden:

“One is never over-dressed or underdressed in a little black dress,” ~ Karl Lagerfeld

Much love to you all.

Nailing the Summer Mani & Nail Art Inspo

Hey hey hey everyone! I have been on a posting frenzy recently, adding new pieces almost everyday, and I hope you’re all enjoying them! I just feel that it is my duty to keep you all informed about the latest and the greatest in the fashion world right now.

Today, I come to you with an update on some great nail polish hues for the Summer and some nail art inspiration! If our outfits and makeup are going to be on trend, then our nails have to be too! Let’s get into it!

Summer Nails1

The colors I used for today’s nail looks are Sally Hansen’s Coral Reef in shade 405, Breezy Blue in 481, and Lacey Lilac in 270. I also used Sinful Colors Professional’s Snow Me White in 101 and Forever 21’s Nail Color in Country Club Pink.

Look 1: Coral Reef #405

Summer Nails2

This polish, Coral Reef, is in Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear line, and it definitely lives up to its name. This nail polish lasts for a good 1.5 to 2 weeks and appears beautiful and glossy when dried; it’s definitely my favorite line out of all the Sally Hansen products. This coral color is perfect for summer, adding a pop of color to your nails as it screams bright and fun!

Summer Nails3 Summer Nails4

For nail art I chose to do some simple white dots using the Sinful Colors Professionals Snow Me White in 101. I used a dotting tool to place four dots along the third half of my nail towards the bottom. I did this for my pointer, middle, and pinky nails, but on my thumb and ring finger I placed four dots down the middle of my nail for some contrast.

TIP: Don’t have a dotting tool? Get a bobby pin and unfold it enough so that you can hold it well. Use the rounded end of the pin to make your dots!

Look 2: Lacey Lilac #270

Summer Nails5

This is another polish in the Xtreme Wear line and I love it just as much as the others. I don’t usually wear purple nail polish, but once I applied this one, I really really liked it. It’s soft, cool and feminine and it’s actually a little lighter than depicted in the picture. If you’re not one to wear bolder, brighter colors, then this is the polish for you this summer! It’s soft and fun. Like a teddy or marshmallows…

Summer Nails6 Summer Nails7

This is most definitely my favorite design that I’ll show you all today. I really fell for the lilac color and didn’t want a design to overpower it, so I decided to do an accent nail instead. I used a small brush to paint the chevron detail and I think it came out pretty nicely. If I did a design on all the nails, I feel that it would have been too busy.

Look 3: Breezy Blue #481

Summer Nails10

As I was painting my nails I forgot to take a picture with the blue polish alone! So here is a shot with the nail art and the bottle of nail polish (again, from the Xtreme Wear line.) I have been wanting to buy a bright yet soft blue nail polish for a while, so I picked this up at the store the other day and it applied beautifully. What I love most about these polishes is that they apply so smoothly and dry without any air bubbles (my biggest nail polish pet peeve.) Most often you only need one coat of polish to do the job!

Summer Nails9 Summer Nails8

I decided to do another nail art look with polka dots, and incorporate the accent nail trend but decorate the other nails as well. My ring finger has multiple polka dots and my others have one sole dot in the center. I used the Snow Me White again, and I’m really pleased with how this turned out!

Look 4: Country Club Pink

Summer Nails13 Summer Nails14

If you’ve read some of my last posts, you may remember this polish from my “Country Clubbin'” post! The pink shade really grew on me, and I like that it’s light but just light enough to be noticeable. This pink shade is actually one of the colors of the Summer season, so I am pretty happy that I bought this! Pick up a pink polish like this in the store when you can and rock it for your own mani.

Look 5: Snow Me White #101

Summer Nails11 Summer Nails12

Last but not least, the it color of the Summer, the clean and crisp white. White has been the standout color for this season, and I had to include this classic. Besides being known to make one look a bit tanner (though that’s not an issue for me…ha!), the simplicity of white nails is ultra chic and goes with any outfit you choose. Rock those white hot nails, ladies!

If you try out any of these looks, then tag me in your nail art pictures and I’ll try to tweet/ retweet some! I highly recommend the Sally Hansen polishes, so do check them out. (:

Trend Report: Au Naturel

Hello, darlings! Hope you all have been doing well since I last spoke to you all (which was actually two days ago…).

I’ve been looking at a lot of artwork recently, and I read a comment from an art critic somewhere and he said that minimalism and simplicity are braver, bolder, and at times more beautiful than some more elaborate art pieces. Fashion and everything about it is art, and it looks like the minimalist’s art movement has reached the hair and makeup department in the fashion world.

Today I come to you with a Trend Report about hair and makeup, and it may the simplest one yet.

Two ladies in Paris during Paris Men's Fashion Week looking effortlessly cool with their effortless makeup and hair looks.

Two ladies in Paris during Paris Men’s Fashion Week 2014 looking effortlessly cool with their effortless makeup and hair looks.

What do these ladies have in common? Their makeup! Yes they are in fact wearing makeup, but it’s the minimal, barely-there, natural glow makeup look that is steadily but surely making its way around.

I think that stepping out au naturel in regards to makeup and hair is a great beauty move, especially in the summer. Wearing tons of makeup and constantly styling your hair can really take a toll on a girl during the warmer months. Not to mention that lots of makeup can tend to look a bit washed toward the end of the day (if you don’t use the right products, that is.)

Her dress may be bold, but her makeup is anything but. A sweet face spotted at the Governors Ball allowing her natural wavy locks to rest on her shoulders.

Sure, go ahead and wear more makeup when stepping out for some nicer occasions if you’d like, that is still a-ok! Personally, I slightly prefer this natural makeup + hair look this summer because to me…

a) you’ll look like you just came from the beach, glowing (or is that just me and my imagination?)

b) it takes a lesser toll on your face and hair, leaving them healthier (they will thank you!) and…

c) beyond a summer trend, it lets more of your natural beauty shine through, rather than stay hidden behind foundation, concealer, eyebrow tint, primer, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, blush, the works!!

There is something very chic about this trend and I’m excited to see how and where it goes. Actually, I may do some posts for no-heat hair styles, a “no-makeup” makeup tutorial, and maybe one about great products to use during the summer. Let me know if you want any of these posts to go up and any other suggestions you may have! I have been writing up a storm, so you will most likely hear from me again soon… (:

January Lovlies

Hey everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is my first post in my Monthly Lovelies Series, and I know it’s coming two days too late, but better late than never, yeah?

The first month of the New Year brought me new things to start absolutely L.O.V.I.N.G. Of course, I just have to share them with you!

Favorite Baby Lip Flavors

I don’t think I have come across someone yet who doesn’t like chapstick. It’s hydrating, it makes your lips feel good… what more could you ask for? Well, ladies, if you like chapstick, you will LOVE Baby Lips. It’s basically like chapstick, but it’s instantly hydrating, and, wait for it… it acts just like a lip stain or lip gloss!! There are clear options, of course. If you’re looking to add some color to your lips, though, as well as hydration, then Baby Lips is for you! I use Baby Lips, and within a week of using it, my lips were noticeably softer.

Favourite Mascara, January

My number one makeup piece that I could never live without is mascara. My mum bought this for me last month and asked me to try it, and boy did I see instant results! The mascara really lives up to it’s name. I usually apply two coats of mascara (for good measure), and with this, I only needed one. My eyelashes are pretty long compared to the average lash length, and this lengthened and thickened my lashes. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to lengthen their lashes!

My favorite app right now!

Ok, if being addicted to Polyvore is wrong, I don’t want to be right. Polyvore is an amazing website that allows you to put together high quality images of outfits, home decor sets, and more. When I say high quality, I mean High-Def. HD. Almost real. It’s amazing.  (I actually made these images on Polyvore!) In addition, you can search and shop for apparel, shoes, beauty products and more from all of your favourite stores in one place! Membership is absolutely free, as well as their iPhone app. You can check out my Polyvore account @thestuddedcollar. I’ll be doing some contests there, so be sure to check it out!

My loves, Infinity Scarves

Infinity scarves are absolutely amazing. It’s the classic scarf revolutionized. I’ve been wearing these so much during these winter months. If you know England, then you know our cold, dreary, and rainy weather. I despise the cold with a burning passion, (if laughed at that unintentional oxymoron, I applaud you) so I wear these often. Their so cute, and I just… gah I just love them. Cream an maroon are my favourite colors for them… I have too many of them to be honest….

Favourite Shoes of January

BOOOOOOOTS boots boots boots boots boots boots boots. I think you get the point.

I’ll be honest, wearing leather riding boots is not easy in a frequently rainy country, but I’m Gigi Parrington… I find a way.

Go to Cable Knit Sweater

Last, but certainly not least, cable knit sweaters. I mentioned these in my Back To School bit earlier last year, but I fell in love with them more recently. I’ve worn these with leggings, jeans, trousers, skirts, anything. They’re so warm and vintage but so stylish.

There you have it, my 6 January Lovelies! I’ll be back at the end of the month with my February lovelies, and I can’t wait to share them with you! I think I’ll do a contest with this for February…

In the mean time, comment below what you were raving about last month! I’d love to know and learn about some new things to try (: Check out my Polyvore, Instagram, Twitter and other social media to keep up with me. Until next time my darlings…

Stay Fab,

Gigi xx.
